On the way home a bmw threw a ****** great rock up in the air Which missed the paint work phew but it's split my screen in two I've got screen insurance so only the excess to pay any recommendations on where to get it repaired or more to the point who to avoid 30 years driving first time it's happend

Make sure you get an AUDI branded screen or you risk losing the warranty on things like rain sensing wipers etc, you may pay extra buts its worth the money if you plan on keeping the car for a while

Lots of threads on here about replacement windscreens and mixed opinions on whether the Autoglass Pilkington version is as good as the Audi branded version.

Expect your insurance company will put you straight through to Autoglass or similar screen replacement company, check your policy and call them in the morning, might even be a direct dial number.

Had a Pilkington version fitted to mine 6 -7 months ago and had none of the reported issues with rain and light sensors not working properly.

@dolo not heard of anyone having warranty issues with a Pilkington replacement version. What do you know or gave experience of?

Love getting a new windscreen. Mine is covered in tiny chips/scratches. Anyone know of a decent product to get rid?

.........not a lot you can do I'm afraid. I used to work in the glass industry & if the scratches are bad, when you try to polish them out you loose the clarity of the glass as it starts to go ''wavy'' & is no longer clear.

I'd never use autoglass again and a non OE windscreen is also a no no imho.

Looks like I'll need to "accidentally" have a stone chip soon then.

As winter approaches with the low sun and glare on the roads a fresh windscreen is a must.

Bought an 18month old 2010 A4 from Cambridge Audi approved used.
Had issues with the rain sensitive wipers in that there were really erratic, would work some days not the other.
Took it to Teesside Audi who took one look and said "sorry its had a windscreen change and it isn't and Audi OEM replacement, hence the warranty is void on the sensor because it has been worked on by someone other than Audi.

Very harsh....

If Cambridge Audi sold the car to you with the remainder of the manufactures warranty and did not point out the non Audi windscreen they should honour the warranty even if not OEM

I would have phoned Cambridge and got them to cover the cost at Teesdale and escalated as high as I needed if they did not agree

The story about the warranty being void since it has been worked on by someone other than Audi is nonsense.
