Evening everyone, Well I was enjoying a sunny Sunday joyride in my A3 today until my dash suddenly told me that my left hand side DRL had failed so I pulled up, switched the engine off and turned the DRL's off at the switch and back on again, they lit up for a few seconds only for the left side one to go out again. So when I returned home I put the snap on solus diagnostic coder on the job and this code came up:

02895 Supply Voltage for LED Module for DRL and Parking Light Left Open Circuit/Short With Power

A couple of years ago the right hand side one also failed but at that point I didn't have the code reader so my local dealer just changed the whole headlamp which cost a hell raising 300 fat ones but thankfully the Audi was still under warranty so it didn't cost me a penny. I fear my luck may have run out on this occasion but I would be overwhelmingly grateful if someone could tell me what this code means and if there is a simple fix to this problem.

Its a 2009 A3 black edition 2.0TDI with engine code CBAB.

Swap them across & see if it follows to other side, then its definitely headlamp replacement.

If only it was as easy as it sounds, an afternoon dropping the bumper after I finish work tomorrow then, and I thought these LED DRL's were supposed to last the life of the vehicle!!

That's an assumption I'm afraid, could always challenge the dealer/audi as you've already had 1 go, goodwill is offered sometimes.

There is certainly no harm in trying I guess, anything to save me a bob or two. Do you know if this is a common problem at all? Also if I try swapping them across, what happens if it works on that side, could it be some kind of wiring problem?

Common problem on a few of the Q models ,the DRL modules fail

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Have the same problem. Local specialist has suggested I may be able to change the module and not the whole headlamp, would cost half as much £212 v £475 so very tempting. But they also said they aren't 100% sure it will definitely work so maybe worth looking for a cheap used part instead in case it doesn't. Just wondered if you could fix a failed DRL without changing the whole headlamp unit?

I have the same problem, also LHS!
2010 A3 black edition.

Please let us know if you have any luck changing the module.

Anyone have any clues as to how likely it will be this will work? Also, does anyone have a clue whether I might be able to find a used one?

So a quick update. After the fault report by my local indy I rung Audi for a PN. I gave them my reg and told them I needed a control module for the LED DRLs. The PN they gave me was 7L6941329B. I checked multiple times that this was the correct PN, they said yes although they admitted that they were confused as to why this part would help as its normally a new headlamp.

Anyway, a search of google throws up plenty of results but all for a control module for the adaptive xenons. I can't seem to find a link with the LED DRLs. So, it seems that either I was given the wrong PN or I guess more likely, this is the part that the fault is referring to but probably isn't the root cause and is thrown up because everything is within headlamp and its a default response when fault code finding?? Seeing as there aren't any problems with the xenons I assume replacing this isn't going to solve the problem?? Can someone shed some more technical light on this please because if it does work the part is £50 instead of £500 for a new headlamp unit!!

Thanks

sounds like module to me , dont need to remove all front bumper you can drop it down on each side and wiggle the headlight out pretty easy ,just tape up the front point on the wing ,thats the part that will scratch your headlamp lens when refitting if not careful

Usually when led DRL dies on these units, its a new headlight.

Hi All, firstly, from experience, this might help.... (A4 B8)

1. If you set your light switch to OFF position, do either DRL work?
2. If they do, when when you switch your head lights on, do they go out?

This was my issue. I fixed it using VCDS, going into 07 Cent Elec, security code then adaption, channel 3, changed the figure to 100, TEST. (VCDS will tell you here standard figure is 9. Ignore this. I then noticed although they were working, they didn't dim between side lights and head lights, nor did they dim when operating the turn signal. So back into the same place on VCDS, I tried lower numbers. Eventually set on 50, this reduced the brightness of the DLRs when indicating and when head lamps were on. I tried to get back down to 9 but it wasn't having it. 30 was the lowest before it turned them off again.
