Narco Tuning 2.0tdi 170 cr - dpf gut, egr delete and stage 1

Like poop off a shovel, however my exhaust tips are caked black soot after just the drive back 100 miles, gonna keep my eye on the smoke and potentially take it back to be tweaked. Sounds EVIL, and finally has some substance :D

They put a hard cut limiter on the map, but I didnt take advantage of it for the video.. oops

MJ is certainly an awesome car. That sounds amazing.

With no dpf sooted tips are common, nothing to worry about.
Depending on lambda it should be smokefree if it's around 1.2.

I am not sure on the details, it was night when i got back so I hadnt seen any smoke, but i will keep an eye, prepared for the soot but the back of the car is covered lol wondered if it was excessive or not.

Hard limiter , is that a popcorn ?
I am sure there is a joke I am missing here :p

You can see why dark side want nearly 900 for this job now.

Wow .

Maybe the back is covered from testing? but on CR you really have to run them rich to get smoke - anyways with the stock turbo you hit egt limiter pretty quick so pointless adding more fuel.

Glad you're happy Meemo. Sorry about the hassle but we got there in the end. I'd just like to apologize for the inconvenience. Sometimes these things happen, and we do our best to avoid them. EGT sensors can be stubborn and snap pretty easily sometimes, but we supplied it at the same price we pay for it (that was the trade part :) )
Please don't think we ever do this to get more money / work out of our customers as it wouldn't be viable.
If the smoke is a problem please don't hesitate to give us a call and i can adjust the tune accordingly. I tend to tune a little richer than most for a better drive, but still, lambda 1.10 initially then clearing to 1.20 generally gives very little smoke.

Sounds like a beast. What numbers did you get from the work done?
I dont know I have asked but had no reply, I am presuming they ran out of time and didnt get the figures :(

No joke .

Toffee or plain ?

Ahhh, OK, I dont know as when i hit the limiter it hits hard and the whole car violently cuts off the power and brings it back up, then again, maybe 2 seconds apart, havent used it too much as its a little too violent for me lol Its only set to kick in when driving, not when idle revving.

Appreciate the response :) Will keep an eye on the smoke, cant say I have seen any out of the back yet, just the dirty tips :)

Tries to refrain for making jokes about dirty tips

That's a shame be good if you could get them at some point. As long as you're happy with the performance though I suppose it doesn't matter too much what it says on paper :smile new:

The map is very fuel heavy and wanted to talk with them see if it needs tweaking, also asked if they have my dyno read outs on whatsapp but no reply.
And my dash cam had broke when i got the car back, today i decided to see when it stopped working by seeing the last recording, and it is when she was being worked on. just want to find out if they know what caused it.
Been trying to call narco and seems they are screening my calls. I can see they have been on whatsapp a number of times after i have been trying to call.. and have not replied to my whatsapp message from the 1st of september but have opened it.
Still pending me leaving them a review.. please call me back Narco!

They called back as soon as they must of had a notificaiton for this post, said i they called and i didnt answer but i have no missed calls.. He admited me pulled out the cables. Thats is the last time it worked so if it is broken as a result of that (It has an off switch he could of used) then they will pay damages.

I feel a little misrepresented here unfortunately, and i'm in no way trying to get into an argument. I did try to call you this morning at 10:04am
which was a short time after I noticed the missed call from you, we discussed this on the phone to which your response was '' My sim card has been playing up and not accepting some calls''
I also said I unplugged the dashcam as part of our company policy, which in no way should damage it, also offering to have the dashcam replaced or repaired if it has been damaged by myself or anyone at narco.
Again not trying to have an argument or dispute but i do feel you are showing us in a bad light for no reason. I can post the screenshot of the attempted call at 10.04am this morning and as all our calls are recorded (if you agree) i can post the phone conversation we had too.

Yes we did speak after I posted this and am glad you got back to me, but I shouldn't have to post on a thread I know you can see for a reply. The sim was replaced and dealt with last week because it wasn't accepting calls, you said the phone rang and I saw no missed call which wasn't the old issue I mentioned, only stating how it was for me, not misrepresenting any thing or trying to argue , I simply want some post customer service and couldn't get hold of you and had no reply to the last message sent on the 1st about the dyno.

Thanks for the info on my dash cam over the phone, was what wanted to know so I could figure out how to fix it. I am sending back the power controller to be replaced under warranty as i suspect it is faulty and poor timing that it failed after it was disconnected, but it was helpful to know what happened so I can't explain to blackvue it was only unplugged.

Can you tell me if you took any dynos please? I don't mind if there wasn't I just see you usually put them up and would be curious to see them.
Looking forward to some adjustments on the map, and I am enjoying the car since the work.

Adam from Narco came and had a look at her at players yesterday, went to show the smoking issue, and gave it a few revs under 2500rpm and had a cloud of black smoke and a nice spray of black soot and water at the lovely BMW parked behind me (I am so sorry!)

In fairness i usually see white smoke so this was completely new.
Adam ran a test on the EGR which is mapped out and it came back with 'EGR not OK', he suspects it is stuck open, so has kindly arranged for a date begining of next month for me to come back and have the blanking plate put in complementary to the work I already have had :)
I have seen others mention this before and is fairly standard thing that happens for some people on these engines after the EGR is coded, nice easy fix :D

Do you not fancy popping in a blank your self and seeing? Rather than back and forth.

I did ask where the egr was and he kindly showed me, just 2 bolts, fitting at home would deffo save on fuel and it did look ok to get too with the correct socket handle :)
I must be bad at googling today though as I cant see any sites that sell the blank plate for mine, any idea where this could be bought from?

That looks more like neat oil coming out the back of that exhaust. Something is broken IMHO.

I spose it does look like that, but I think it is from the power washer on the exhaust, washed the car twice this week with extra attention to the sooty exhuast, seemed to be that water and the soot mixing, Adam had a good feel and smell of it and was happy it was sooty water but i will check again.

I've always just bought them on Ebay.

Hoping that is just water and soot rather than oil. I once had a knackered turbo which leaked into the exhaust and splattered oil.

If you're handy with the tools then give it a go yourself. Just watch the bolts as they like to snap. I usually get the engine nice and warm and then use a bit of releasing agent to help them out. Think this should fit yours? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121352719801

wow iv never seen soot leave a trail like that! im running no dpf and have minimal smoke during hard acceleration
