Hi Guys,

I'm a complete noobie when it comes to VCDS I can use basic functions but would like to know more. I have done some research but it all seems a bit past me.

basically I would like to make it so the car only unlocks one door with one push of the button then all doors once I press it twice

the second thing I would like to do is make it so the alarm beeps when you lock the car

I have no idea where to go or what to do apart from going into the adaption menu. I understand that some may say if you don't know what your doing leave it or get some one else to do it but if you don't try you will never know or learn so this is my new subject to learn

any advise would be great in dumb dumb terms would be even better thanks for any help :)

apologies if this has been discussed else where I can seem to find info that helps me :(

Have you used vcds before? Do you know the basic functions and how to navigate the layout etc?

Can you go into the comfort module - 46 - click on coding, then take a picture and upload it here. Screen shot or camera picture is fine.

Hi Matt I can nav to that I have taken some pic sorry about the quality

@Scottamdaddy don't need adaption, stay out of adaption.

Click on coding, and change the number 06891 to 07919. That will give you the horn via lock and unlock, and selective locking.

If you see the coding and all the options (all shown here - http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Audi_A4_(8E)_Comfort_System#Cding ), you add up all the numbers to get the 07919. At the moment yours adds up to 06891 which is missing 0004 (selective locking) and 1024 (confirmation anti theft warning system horn activation). So we're just adding 4 and 1024 to the 6891 number.

You could use a decimal to binary convertor (which is what I did) to give ones and zeros to show what is enabled and what isn't. Yours came out as 1101011101011. Ones enable, zero isn't.

Make sense? If not, let me know, I'll try to explain it more.

Adaption and coding two separate things. Coding is the code to the comfort ecu, adaption can then change the code. I.E. The coding will enable windows up and down by the fob, the adaption will say which windows etc (as shown in your adaption channel 62 pic).

@matmanwrx thanks for that I'll give it a go tomorrow so what Is the adaption option actually used for ? Anything in there worth taking a look at or learning about ?
Thanks for all your help mate

Could you also tell me what thatch cam does and not safe does as well please ?

All the adaption is on the link I put in the above post. The Ross tech wiki is a great place to find all you need to know.

I googled the non-safe function and found this -
  • " No SAFE-function USA only?" - once you've entered the correct Radio SAFE code, you don't need to re-enter it after you have disconnected the battery as long as the radio is in the same car as when orginally entered"
Couldn't find too much on the thatchem bit, not sure what it does. Best to leave off, although if mine is off I might turn it on to see what it does.

So, a small update.

my car has +04096 = Thatcham Anti-Theft Warning (not USA) enabled. Not sure what it does. Maybe makes the alarm a bit better with glass braking sounds or better immobiliser or something. not sure, but mine is enabled.

Question on this matter

I tried to code my the other night ive just got vcds again after not using it in awhile i had a look at this and heres what it brought up.

Image

I tried to input the coding and got a few working but lost some functions

Also should remote windows not drop the windows fully down ?? And mine didn't seem to want to go up with the remote on locking too they just stayed down

Also adaptation in channel 62 was set at 204 ?

Does it not have an alarm bradderz? Other than it not having an alarm it looks ok. If you want the windows to go down code as avant +256. You'll lose the key in barrel hold unlock and roof go down.

Yes it has alarm as when roof down and i lean in whilst forgetting to unlock it goes off.

I was looking at a different page to the one you posted and wasnt as clear as the one you posted so will go off that one tomorrow i didnt no the roof could go down whilst key held to unlock in the barrell

Will have a play tomorrow ive noted the original codings

Try it, for me I couldn't get it to work, maybe the battery was low. I just changed to avant. I'm looking from my phone and it's a bit hard to read. I think it does say anti theft system, not much else.

Also try the adaption 62 as 15 the rest wouldn't do anything anyway.

Thanks for the help there I gave it a go didn't seem to change anything tbh so I put it back, with the extras I wanted my next step is to try and figure out why I can smell fuel around the inlet manifold got a new one yesterday for when I get round to taking it all to bits to check it all. Plus my fuel pump ever since I bought the car sqweeks on prime but not the rest of the time wondering if there to Are joined some way. Thanks again for all your help
