Hi all,
I'm new here. A bit of story why I went this DPF removal path.
I just had my A6 DPF removed this week after local Audi want to charge me £3500 for replacement (as they couldn't find any fault with my DPF, my car never went to limps mode or lost it power just the ECM warning light that asked to emergency regeneration)
I went to the guy call SA tuning after some research and reviews.
But after I had it done included stage 1 remapped my car MPG went down hill like 10MPG less than normal same journey and the car still calculated the soots on ECU also still does Active Regeneration but again it has no black smoke yet..
I did went back to see the tunner but he said everything is fine but I just wasn't so sure..
I just thought he didn't delete DPF of ECU properly.
Has anyone had same experience or any advice, please?
Thanks in advance
Max

PS sorry about my English as I am a foreigner.

Your MPG shouldn't have dropped by 10mpg unless you have substanially changed your driving style. Usually you would expect a slight improvement or the same consumption. Some places just delete fault codes in the map to stop the car reporting any issues with the DPF however this doesn't disable the regen process. If the car is still trying to regenerate then it sounds as if it hasn't been disabled fully. do you still get engine fans running when you pull up, a sign that regen is active.

Hi,
I didn't change my driving style at all as normally I get around 55 - 65 MPG on my same journey to work everyday but now I hardly get 50 MPG even how careful I drive.. I did mention this to tunner he just said I shouldn't believe just the car estimated!?!?!
And yes the car still Regenerate as the rep go up to around 1000 rpm and cooling fan running also I can smell the burn air from the exhaust..
I do believe the tunner have not yet disabled the regen on my car yet..
As I got an App it still calculated the soots and was showing that my car went to Active regen progress.

Even if he disabled it, if the fill levels were not reduced then the ECU will still try to perform a regen

Was the car driven after the DPF was removed and BEFORE the remap applied? That would have cleared out a fair bit of any remaining soot and also reduce the fill levels within the ECU

99/100 your MPG improves after the DPF delete; not get worse!

Looks to me like the DPF regen process is still active as you say. On some ECU's it's a simple switch so just one bit set to a 1 or 0 in other ECU's it's more difficult to disable the process, Which is why they end up just deleting the fault codes in the ECU so no faults are shown. You need to get them to sort the problem.

Hi,
I don't think he reset the soots level on ECU but he shown me on the VCDs that DPF soot level = 0,, but my App on the phone still showing soots level also still calculate everything like it still has DPF fitted..and try to regen when soots reach 90+%

About MPG that what I expected to be a lot better than before not get worse

I got a replied back from the tunner he said my Engine EDC17C46 there is only one solution for my dpf and have to stay like that permanently?!?!
And ask me to go back to him leave car for him to sort it out?
Should I go back I kind of don't trust this guy anymore.
