Hi there,
At the moment, my S3 8P at stage 2+ is running an APR down pipe and sports cat joined to the OEM catback.
Has anyone had experience of both the Powervalve and non Powervalve exhausts as it might be time to complete my exhaust system?
So I am looking for comparison pros and cons between both systems from people who have had experience with both systems. The Powervalve costs more than the non Powervalve and so the non Powervalve will act much like a Milltek although the sound may be different.
I don't want drone and the APR down pipe actually had a resonator after the cat which is unusual compared to most downpipes.
All thought ms welcomed!
Cheers,
Peter

I can't help as I only had the pleasure of using a full PowerValve system for the last two years, but don't the non-PowerValve systems come in two configurations - Prestige and Sports? Which one are you considering?

I might be abut thick here but I could not work out the difference between the Prestige and Sports!!

Well Leshkin, you just answered another question in that I have just been looking at the photos of the back of your car wondering what is your exhaust!!

I love my BCS non powervalve but i would like it louder lol

Do you get any drone at Motorway speeds Michael?
My son has a none resonated Milltek cat back on his Golf 7 R. Great fun thrashing around but tiresome going up a hill on the motorway etc.

Its not that bad tbh , obviously you do hear it at certain rpm but it doesn't bother me ,i don't think you will get a better sound overall tbh .

Ive got powervalve as you know mate.. id buy the same if i had to do it again.. love the way it is on stage 2+

I may be wrong but I thought their Prestige = Resonated and Sports = Non Resonated?

After driving a friends S3 and following numerous others with the full Powervalve, I would definitely buy the full Powervalve system if you don't want drone!

I've got a power valve on order, my thinking was it will be louder on boost as it will by pass the back box

Well I have checked the website and I cannot see the difference between Prestige and Sports ?
Can someone help out here?

Your best bet is to give them a call or PM @BCS Nige , but I think you are correct.

To be honest though, you should really consider the full powervalve system if you are planning on replacing the existing downpipe. The flexibility of this setup is on another level. I did about 400 miles this weekend and not once did I get any drone, but when you press on, the system wakes up and sounds really fruity without getting tiresome.

Thanks for your thoughts Leshkin.
Thinking of your ITG air filter, does it retain its shape or is it squashy?
I know I don't want a Revo and I am considering an ITG Maxogen.

Thinking of the exhaust, I would not replace the APR downpipe as it is a true work of art. Almost seems a shame to have it hidden under the car! I have had a BCS quote for either catback.

Fair enough, I'm a BCS fanboy, so can't help going-on about it :)

The ITG filter I have has a mesh on the inside and does not change its shape easily. To be fair, I was buying a CAI tomorrow, I'd go for ITG system too. While Revo flows well, it's a shame I had to go through modifying it to make it fit properly.

Saying that, all the extra joins on the ITG kit can't be helping to get smooth airflow. I feel like with the setup I have now, it's best of both worlds :)

My Revo fitted perfectly , not sure why you had to modify your buddy tbh , why don't you want the Revo Peter ? It's very good imho .

Tbh I would like my BCS full standard system to be a bit louder .

Not sure about Revo hardware quality. Too many stories on here about poor fitting components.
My son has the Revo carbon fibre intake for a Golf 7 R. All it does is opens up the grill for direct air access to the air filter. Some pipes need rerouting and they just rub. He took it off in disgust yesterday and we modified the original intake to do exactly the same job. Total cost zero and no pipes rub. Cost to put back to normal = £26.00.
Revo cost over £350.00

Mine fits really well , no rubbing at all and if I fitted the Itg filter it would be very crushed up at the back of the headlamp .

No, as we discussed before, not for me and I think you said that you had to modify the heatshid to fit properly.
Probably end up sticking with the Neuspeed + over sized cotton green filter as it all just works, fits perfectly and 369 bhp is not too shabby. That figure was also before I did a few other mods as well.

I had to slightly alter the bracket that fits to the slam panel , only a two minute job though .

If I wanted to make the ITG fit on the Revo pipe I would shorten the the Revo pipe and dispense with the heat shield. If you read Audi tuner/ Performance Audi neither of the big power S3 8P cars in the past few months used a heat shield and both use an ITG type filter.

I think it's like anything you can buy , they will all do a similar thing , for me my car feels a lot more eager with the Revo and I feel it looks a lot better than the Neuspeed but hey who knows knowing me there will be an Itg Maxogen on it next lol .

I have to agree.

The old system on my car was a non-resonated Milltek, and had a pretty noticeable drone at around 3500-4500 rpm and was pretty wearing on a long trip.

BCS can do this....

An adjustable resonator to remove/reduce drone.

In my experience the Revo fits OK, but when you see @leshkin Revo pipework with supporting brackets it makes Revo's efforts look feeble, you could literally hang off Leshkin's and it wouldn't go any where!!

Revo do state that the Cai should be a loose fit and not tight at all , that's what they say on the website not me saying it but I do agree with you , I fitted mine tightly to the engine block .

You have to be careful with tightening the Revo too much as the threads on the pipe are aluminium. I have heard of 2 people that have over tightened and stripped the threads and so totally loose. Nip it up and add a bit of medium strength thread lock.
