As @RB_172 has said. There are mounts tucked up on each side of the glovebox. We zip tied ours up to these. Just make sure they are clear of any obstructions and on the right hand side there is a pipe which gets very hot. So be cateful of this.

As an FYI, the new Face Lift Reversing Camera is a self-contained unit i.e. the camera and control module are now a single unit :)

Anyone know where I can get the reverse cam low from? I'm good at parking just not gauging how far car is behind when parking in tight spots

Have seen 3rd Party copies on eBay but they all have Chinese display text. Am sure a google will turn up some results. To be honest for the difference in price I would just go for the High, you get an AUX Video-In also.

OK fella's, I've got most of the trim out of the boot area and installed the camera, working on the mmi unit, I can't get these bugga's out! They look so easy but don't wanna force. Any help Please?

You just slide out the clear bits (only a few mm) and push down on them a bit to release it... then pull the plug itself.

Hi Guys (its me again!!)

Got all wiring done and camera now installed.

I am unable to access 5F> information Electronics. I get "cannot be reached 0100". I have gone through and cleared the faults, some keep coming back.

Any help again please?

Check all cables / wireless my to the rear of the MMI unit, make sure all are connected and none damaged.

Could you attach an autoscan?

can you scan other modules?

we had a similar problem didnt we @DJAlix ? end up turning on the engine and it all started working as normal.

OK thanks for the replies. Checked and re-affirmed connections.

Had a drive to the shops to get some gin (I need it after 12 hours on this!)

Came home had a bit of tonic with it and re-scanned. Now only have 2 faults with camera module and guess what it works.

After I changed the coding to that of yours @DJAlix in the write up.

Great Stuff!

The two errors which you have:
  1. 10489856 - No Basic Setting - This will not affect the camera's operation. In order to clear this the camera will need calibration with a special VAS tool kit.
  2. 13705496 - Database U1121 18 [009] - Missing Message - This is a CAN BUS Communications error, possible wiring issue there I think.
Next time your car goes in for a service mention the camera calibration, Audi normally do this for free if the car is in for other works :)

Camera all appears to be working fine, if there was a can-bus wiring issue would this affect the camera in any way. Could you suggest anything, I've checked wiring and soldering is fine. Been out for a drive tonight so shall re-scan tomorrow.

If there was a Wiring / Layer 1 issue with the CAN Hi / Low then communication with the camera module would be interrupted and it would not be working properly. It could be an intermittent issue, brake in a wire, or maybe a bad join / pin not seated in it's connector properly. I would monitor it for a few days and see how you get on with using it. If you can, before you drive the car again:
  • Autoscan and save
  • Clear All DTCs
  • Un-Tick Display Freeze Frame
  • Autoscan again
After doing this only "current" issues should be displayed, like the Basic Settings DTC. UDS modules like ours can be a bit too aggressive when displaying historic issues and can falsely report issues also.

Monitor for a few days and let us know how you get on.

I'm all set up and connect , but ....
There was one problem - I can not encode unit 5F .
I have all the software VAS PS, VCP, Odis, VCPS - but I do not know how .

Help me please. For 3 weeks I read online , but have been unable to find the information .

Yes, i have problem only with 5F.

I have only one error in the block 6C - not calibrated camera. But this is no ploblem - im fixed this later.
The problem is that when reverse gear is no image .
If you turn off MMI and turn on the reverse gear - when you turn on MMI for a few seconds a picture with the camera , but then started MMI , and it disappears .

You need to make sure you have the following configured:

5F
  • (21)-Vehicle function list BAP-VPS_0x0B - activated
  • (22)-Vehicle function list BAP-VPS_0x0B_msg_bus - Comfort database
Then Reset the MMI.

Actually, reading your post again can you please confirm how you have everything currently coded and possibly post an AutoScan.

I've read - that must somehow activate 5F cell block ?

And in the instructions from Kufatek - there is a point - he too is necessary to me ?

If there was a Wiring / Layer 1 issue with the CAN Hi / Low then communication with the camera module would be interrupted and it would not be working properly. It could be an intermittent issue, brake in a wire, or maybe a bad join / pin not seated in it's connector properly. I would monitor it for a few days and see how you get on with using it. If you can, before you drive the car again:
  • Autoscan and save
  • Clear All DTCs
  • Un-Tick Display Freeze Frame
  • Autoscan again
After doing this only "current" issues should be displayed, like the Basic Settings DTC. UDS modules like ours can be a bit too aggressive when displaying historic issues and can falsely report issues also.

Monitor for a few days and let us know how you get on.

A bit late on this but I bought a new soldering iron and re-soldered the canbus hi and low and shrink wrapped. Only error code is the camera calibration.

Before ordering the parts I phoned Audi parts and they said this could not be done lol.

The loom included with the kit was prepared for fitment in the front foot well. I tried everywhere around the glove box to position the module but it would not fit. I had to site it in the footwell with double side tape against the inner wing.

I sent the loom down the passenger side of the rear hatch, I sprayed silicone down the gator and put electrical tape around the wire coat hanger and loom contacts and it went through like a knife in butter. I had about a metre of the loom spare which I had to double back along the sil.

Well chuffed with this mod. thanks all for your help.

I still did it .
Channels:
( 21 ) -Vehicle function list BAP-VPS_0x0B - activated
( 22 ) -Vehicle function list BAP-VPS_0x0B_msg_bus - Comfort database
They were active , but it did not give .
Still helped guide from Kufatek that I could find .

It was necessary to activate the display of parking sensors and all , everything worked .

Greetings from the US!! Let me start with expressing my gratitude for your great guide - spending the time to create it in such details and with so much priceless information. Inspired by it I had purchased the camera, the control module and wiring harness and had installed all on my Audi A3 8V (sedan). I took my time and did the installation over the weekend. It followed pretty much what you have outlined except the fact that the fuse box in the left hand drive US cars is under the steering wheel. I had some initial issues with the connections to the CAN gateway (had switched the High and Low wires), but now it seems all is connected properly and my VCDS can see the camera control module and the rest of the MMI is working as it was set before the camera installation.
Unfortunately as with others as I saw in the forum when it came to programing the camera control module I got the:

Coding rejected
Error 31: Request out of range

error.
Tried using the combination of codes from the rest of my modules (on the line with Shop# WSC) - 06385 790 00016 in my case, but it didn't make any difference. I read that perhaps VAG CAN Pro (VCP) is needed for the parametization of the new virgin module and ODIS VAG for the configuration, but not sure anymore. I was able to add the 6c module to the CAN gateway as described in the guide, but in the Adaptation even though I found 108 I could not set/see Node_0x6C (maybe I can't get it and doing something wrong). Similarly for the 5F Adaptation the numbers for the BAP-VPS* were different (not 21/22 as described in your guide). This brings the conclusion that the setup between the US and the UK models is probably different. Not sure what else, but I hope somehow I can make it work if I manage to program the camera control module. It is where I am stuck for now....
I haven't been to my Audi dealer yet, but kind of expect that they will just tell me (politely) to get lost so my hope is that you guys with all your experience can help me. I am attaching the latest VCDS scan I just made. You can see the 5F errors... I wonder why deactivated satellite radio is listed as fault and I am not sure on those other 2 ...I did some of the VCD modes I saw in the DjAlix guide (the Lap timer, Sweeping instrument Needles, the passenger mirror tilt when reverse) and all worked... except the oil temperature, which I disabled back as it was. I also did the changes to the BAP-VPS* there in the adaptation as I mentioned above (the second was already set).
For the backup camera you see:

It's late so not gonna look at the additional errors at the moment but I can see straight away that your 6C module is going to need parameterisation in order to get it working, something which VCDS cannot do. You are going to need someone who has VCP and the Flash Add-On. They will also need access to Audi erWin to be able to download the official firmware. Once up and running ODIS is the only tool which can calibrate this camera module at the moment, but I would not worry too much about this as the camera and module will work fine without it and 9 times out of 10 Audi will do this for you when your car is next in for a service :)

I would not worry about adaptation channel numbers as they will change between markets and revisions.

A good number of people have sent their modules over to me so I can resolve the issues which you have, code and then post back. More then welcome to drop me a PM.

No, not all.

It would seem that there are many used modules flooding the market and a large % of these have not been re-flashed / initialised correctly, meaning that applications like VCDS cannot code or adapt them.

I know a few people who have sourced modules from eBay etc and had not issues at all.
