Hi guys I have a 4 month old S1 and would have like the sat nav. What I would like to know is if I go for the SD card version of the sat nav what are your opinions of it and is it worth the upgrade. Sorry if this topic has already been discussed.

You only have the sd card version to choose from, its around £4-500 to activate. From my point of view its great as its integrated rather than something hanging off the windscreen or air vent with wires everywhere.

Thanks for the reply and I agree it would be better than having one hanging off your screen but does it work as well as a portable sat nav?

yeah its ok and would buy again.

Does it include live traffic, speed cameras and the speed limit on the road you are travelling on plus junction view on motorways I suppose I'm asking does it do what a portable does. Sorry for all the questions but it's not a cheap upgrade.

Can you get satnav retrospectively activated then ?
Yes if it has the conectivity pack(2 sd slots) you can add Sd nav for £500ish its only possible though audi their is no cheap way to get it activate it

SD Card is a good system. I find it better than my portable TomTom. Shows next three junctions (time and distance), speed limits and junction views and reads across to directional arrows and a countdown bar in the central dashboard display. Voice guidance is integrated into the sound system. Only downside for me is that the digital speedometer seems to be disabled when the SatNav is activated (directional arrows take the place of the digital speedo).

Just hit Left on the steering wheel button and it returns to digital speedo

Excellent, Olidelamotte. Thanks. Every day's a school day on this forum! With that sorted, the SD Card system has no downsides for me. I can see that toggling between speedo and directional arrows so easily would be useful - speedo on the open road and directional arrows / countdown bar in the city.
