What have you done to your 8V today?

Got a few things done by Midland VW this week:

Big service
Golf R Mk7 brake set up fitted
H&R Street coilovers fitted + alignment
12mm front and 15mm rear spacers (might change the rears to 12mm too..)
034 dogbone engine mount
Carbon mirrors fitted

Over the moon with the results, car handles like its on rails with negligible body roll but it certainly rides firmer. Was thinking about the eibach anti-roll bar kit but don't feel the need to anymore. Was meant to fit Eibach sportlines but then someone was selling a set of these coilovers in classfieds and I couldnt ignore them. Brakes feel fab too with strong stopping power and no judder in harder driving. Only issue was rear backing plates didn't fit so mk7 GTI PP ones are on order to be fitted instead.

034 dogbone engine mount is a relatively cheap mod which I recommend, added a bit more NVH though and a tad more engine noise in the cabin too. In turn I no longer get wheel hop when losing traction at low speeds and when driving hard theres no slack or that feeling of the engine interia as you slow down or speed up thus, the car just feels so much more responsive and urgent. I recommend people to try it as its easy to fit and the original outlay of buying it in the first place won't hurt the bank too much if you really don't like it. I had doubts before fitting but mines staying on!

I've done all these mods together so the car feels completely transformed!! Just WOW. Can't wait to spend the weekend driving it which I've never quite felt before.

Midland VW are brilliant and can't recommend their professionalism and knowledge enough. Top bunch of people.

Cheers
SJ

P.S And obviously..... Pics to follow !!

Wow good effort !! - looking forward to seeing the pics.

Hope you made you of the all day breakfast portakabin next door ;o)

Gave it a needed wash after my 3500 km trip in Europe.

Average around 23 mpg too, nice!

Couldn't stand the squeaking from the plastic kneepads anymore, so I ordered the mono.pur center console couple weeks ago and couple of hours, one Loctite epoxy and whole lots of sweat later, no more squeaking :grimacing: It's a wonder how a little bit of padding can changed so much, it just felt so much more comfortable, and so much quieter during corners. IMO, this should be standard on all 8V, or a must have option...

Custom leather door armrests coming next.. Ended up not cheap, but I'd still say it's worth it...

That looks awesome, I hate the rattling too. If you don't mind me asking, how much were these panels?

I ordered from https://www.bks-tuning.com/oem-audi-a3-s3-8v-leather-center-console.html Great service and great shipping rate from Germany. And it's the whole freaking console, and the kneepads are I think sonic welded in, I didn't want to mess with replacing the whole console so I just carefully break the welding with a screwdriver, and then glued it on the existing console. It wasn't that hard, just have to be careful not to scratch any plastic.

Today, I took mine to Mercedes, parked it up and went in to check out A-Classes. They had an A250 Petronas edition. Lovely seats, amazing in fact, but the plastics were atrocious compared to the Audi. I was genuinely surprised!
I've got an A45 on ETD later in the week but I'm not sure now...[/QUOTE

Haha good man.

You can have my primal S3 anti-roll bars if that's of interest to you.

Thanks for the offer Rob, forgot to say - saw you down the Three Horseshoes on Tuesday I wouldve stopped by but was in a rush!

Just been over to Eibach UK to purchase some 12mm spacers for the rear too.. Looks perfect now, didnt want my wheels sticking out from the arches too much!

Just noticed that they have been taken over by the Sytner group...good or bad thing?!?!?!
From past experience whenever any company is taken over by another it always ends up being a bad thing...:concern:

Probably start looking in 12 months time and aiming to change in 18 months ..Unless dealer dangles a huge carrot in front of me ie RS3 saloon??

Washed it....and then it rained!

Just looked at it on the CCTV and thought it didn't look that shiny! I then went out and gave the CCTV lens a clean...

Before the lens was cleaned -

;) yep does the job, view via PC or iPhone from anywhere, everything recorded to the cloud as well :)

Nice shine!
I have just been looking at the latest Humax one, appears to have good reviews and seven day cloud but it is internal only. Is your shot through the window or outside?

Is it a Swann system?
Yes mate, from Maplin, can't remember the model number but it was less then £100. Dead easy to set up as well.

That one is fixed to the outside of the house. I did have another that sat on the window ledge, but you get too many reflections bouncing back off the window and it makes the image look rubbish. I've now put that one in my kitchen facing the exterior French doors. Both work on movement and when it is sensed it starts recording, you can alter the size area of what it picks up so that cats etc. don't keep setting it off.

The road where I live isn't too busy, so I have it set to pick up (people size upwards) movement just outside the gate, this gives you an idea:
