Hi
My A4 2.4 v6 has just been in for 12mth service noticed engine is running hotter than before
Today got steam from coolant reservoir does anybody have any pointers to cause of this

When you say service what was involved did they carry out a coolant flush by any chance ?? May just be an airlock and require bleeding if coolant flush has been carried out.

Other culprit will be the thermostat did it have the timing belt , thermostat and water pump replaced ? If so again it could be an airlock or faulty thermostat.

Easy check is to run the car upto normal temp and feel the hose running to the bottom hose of the rad if its cold/luke warm your thermostat is goosed if its very hot to touch it could be a fan issue.

You should be able to watch the coolant temp via the HVAC unit as the gauge sits at 90'c but can actually be around 100'c before the needle starts to rise iirc

I was,nt charged for a coolant flush but best check that out. No timing belt ,thermostat or water pump replaced this time
Thanks for the ideas will start looking further
