I'm looking at getting a primary and secondary decat. I love me some noise!!

Question is how hard are they to fit etc can the cats be put back on for services without costing me a fortune in labour costs at a garage etc reason being is I presume that Audi would void any warranty if they were to notice the exhaust had be altered.

Cheers

Just do secondary plenty noise guys that done primary said it lost the 5 pot burble and secondary don't throw a cel light

Did the second decat two days ago and it didn't add much more sound. I did the switch mod earlier and that added much more sound keeping the exhaust flaps open all the time, simple and very cheap with good result.

Flaps open from zero onwards must be pretty annoying?! You never fancy a break from it then :innocent:

Edit - respect for the Hayabusa in your signature though!!

I've just done the secondary decat and I personally think it makes a decent difference to the noise all round, upshifrs now sound aggressive and it pops and bangs more readily on the downshifts. I'm happy.

Isn't having the flaps open just like driving in dynamic all the time anyway?

Even in dynamic flaps are closed just above idling revs through to about 3.5k.

Put in a 12V 2 channel remote controlled relay - about a tenner off of fleabay!

Not annoying, just a little bit more sound than the oem exhaust with flaps closed. I don't have the sport exhaust so it's pretty quiet and in comfort without flaps open it only wispers. Allthough I like loud sound and the reason why I didn't order sport in first place was that I thought its gonna be annoying in the long term as the daily driven car it is but now I know it was wrong thinking. Yes, the Busa is another level and really fun to drive, feels fast even today after 8 years with this bike.

Excellent! Anyone know where to get the connectors from so I can plug into the flap actuators? Cheers

By 'switch mod', do you mean you disconnected the the flaps from the actuator and tied them open? Or is there a modification/program that will default the engine to 'dynamic' mode?
I'd like a way to default to dynamic but without the flaps open all the time - as terminator indicated, it gets a bit much after a while. But I do like the dynamic mode's use of downshifting where necessary.

Hal if you "unplug" them they stay open all the time. Vcds can't do it afaik.

True tx but sportexhaust can perhaps be to much as you said which I don't have and even with decat and flaps open all the time isn't too much at all.

Ah, OK, so much the same as Mercedes. MB say that the cars with sport mode cannot default to sport mode as it will 'upset' the requirement for car manufacturers to be 'green/eco' first and foremost! I guess this is much the same.

Now, where I prefer the MB system is that a) there are only three modes - eco, sport and manual - and b) sport is only one push on the button, whereas Audi is four pushes..!

Interesting the default for the Audi flaps is 'open' though (I cannot remember, but I think my SLK is 'closed'.)

Fair play fella. I have the sports exhaust which is LOUD when above 3.5k, note sure I could stand it permanently on!
