So, back in May, having searched and debated I finally decided an A6 ultra BE was the car for me. I'd found an excellent contract hire deal, so I placed my order. Got the tracking details, sure enough car was on system, order at factory. Great!

Over the next 2 months NOTHING happened....I chased the broker and the supplying dealer, but all to no avail. Absolutely no progress. My current vehicle was due to go back early August, so mid August delivery was acceptable as quoted at time of ordering, but it was looking like mid September at the earliest.

In addition the "new car" feeling was waning considerably, so I decided I'd had enough and cancelled the order.

Problem was what to do next? Extending the agreement on my current MBenz was a consideration as was looking for something else but I really couldnt find anything I wanted...

Then this week I spotted a dealer with 2 "nearly new" Black Editions at a very good price - I enquired and they had delivery miles only, plus they had the heated seats and folding mirrors options (the 2 upgrades that I didnt want to miss from the new spec.).

Debated overnight, and decided I would go for it. Then found the one car had already gone and there was interest in the second - not surprising given the lack of new spec A6's about and the deal on offer.

Long story short, I've secured the other one! So a week of sorting a few things out and I should be picking up!!

Thanks guys!
Thought there was a facility to check a cars build spec. using the VIN...was I ?wrong?

So, after a very long day yesterday, my 2.0TDI Ultra s tronic BE is here!
3 1/4 hours to get to Truro (having left at 5.15am!)....and 6 1/2 hours to get back... :(
Gave me time to get to know the car though!
Very impressed. Quiet, comfortable, sufficient "go" when you want it, and excellent mpg for a big car.
Nav graphics are a bit dated, but it all works fine. MMI could be a bit more intuitive, but again, it works!
Oh and the mirrors fold when locking :)

Thanks :racer:

I'm very impressed with the refinement of the motor, esp. compared to previous merc and BMW 4 cyl diesels. And I'm pleased to say the ride on 20's is perfectly acceptable to me. Nobody told me how difficult the wheels are to clean though :(

Congrats ! Beautiful motor. Yeah the wheels may be a bit of a faff to clean, but they are the best looking wheels out there for the A6 IMHO!
