so I've finally found the time to introduce myself. I've been a long time user of the 8l forum. I had a lovely 8l for a couple of years. It was quite the money pit and in the end a crunchy gearbox tipped me over the edge and I decided to break it and put the money towards an 8p.

I live in Ireland and it is very hard to find an 8p let alone a good well specced one. I scanned the entire internet 10 times a day waiting for one to appear. 2 came up for sale but when I rang them it turns out that neither of them had heated seats, Bose sound system or flat bottomed steering wheel. The 3 things I really want in an s3. It turns out that they only have poverty spec cars over here.

I considered going to mainland uk for one and at the last minute one came up for sale in Northern Ireland. A week later it was mine. I thought my 8l was good.....the 8p is in a different league. I just have to change the plates over (at a cost of over €3k I might add)

The only thing I can fault with the car I bought is that the discs and pads are a bit worn. I have ordered them and I will replace them this weekend.

I'm going to plastidip the chrome grill this weekend as I like the look of the black grille.

One question I have.. The stock suspension sits lower at the back. I'm going to buy some 25mm lowering springs. If I buy a set of 4 springs and lower it, will it still sit lower at the back or do the kits account for the back being lower already.

Has anyone here just lowered the front? The is a seller on eBay selling just the front springs on their own.

Anyway...here's a couple of pics

Thanks Shane. Yeah I couldn't be happier with it. It took a while to find since you bought the only nice one to ever grace Irish soil  it was worth the wait. The previous owner really looked after it

Lovely car and welcome to the 8P forum! I had a 8L S3 a few years ago and really loved it until a baby made it very difficult to justify :(

Anyway, for some unknown reason Audi S3 suspension is a bit odd with the front sitting higher than the rear. If you don't fancy going down the route of a shocks&springs or coilover kits, then I wouldn't bother with Ebay stuff - check out Eibach PRO Lowering Srings many one here have them and are very happy with the results.

Cool I'll look into it. Cheers

Is it cream as opposed to white ? I like it. The silver trim works too.

nice motor - i have the same interior - it's described by Audi as silver / black which if you can call light grey "silver" then it is!

I still think the s3 interior (8p) looks well, old school with the ally, and console but the dash shape and vents are also 'current' if you like.

and the two-tone brightens things up generally:sunglasses:

It might be worth trying a good deep leather cleaner - I used some stuff from furntiure clinic (ultra clean) and mine came up noticably, as in they had a slghtly grubby-tint to them before.

Howdee. Usually with 3 door cars the back end is noticibly higher than the front, you may be right and a previous owner has just changed the rear springs, if you take one of the rear wheels off you should see the original coloured painted dot markings which would confirm an OE spring. If the whole spring is painted yellow or red the they would be aftermarket springs. Whatever they are now just buy some front springs to even things up. Eibach are a good brand.
For the silver leather, (No need to clean the black leather) clean with any proprietry leather cleaner and then feed them with 'Gliptone' or 'Jaguar' leather food every 3 months to keep the leather soft and supple. Don't use too much cleaner or food at any one time as if the leather gets wet you'll end up with baggy seats, little and often is the best way.

Other brands of leather food are available but I have found these to be the best.

Welcome to the forum mate, enjoy your motor!

So I had a bit of time this weekend so I set about opening my bonnet which decided to stick shut. Turned out the cable had freyed. Managed to open anyway.
Fitted my TTS engine cover and plastidipped my grille black. Looks much better in my opinion. The finish isn't great so I'm going to paint it properly when I get a chance

So. A few more bits done to my s3. I bought some alloys. I also bought some Michelin pilot sport 4's as winter is coming.

I also upgraded my symphony system to rns-e.

Now the next step is suspension and brakes.

I have a pair of eibach 20mm springs for the front. I'll be installing them when I install the brakes

Over the last while I have compiled everything I need to fit a pair of brembo 18z calipers to my car.

Brembo 18z calipers
Mk5 gti hubs
New bearings
Braided lines
Ebc discs and pads
Bolt kit
Rotor spacer rings

I also bought new seals and dust boots and had the calipers sand blasted. I will paint them this weekend.

My big problem is.....what colour? Silver or red

Same wheels and tyres as i have. Nice! Looks even better on sprint blue!

Haha you have good taste! I was unsure about the gun metal. I contemplated painting them silver but I kind of like them now

So the 6 pots didn't work out so I went with the ttrs setup with vagbremtechnic brackets and red stuff pads. I decided I couldn't possibly keep them subtle black so I have them a nice red paint job and new decals. Massive improvement over standard brakes

I also improved the interior more to my liking. Even though I smoke I never used the ashtray so o replaced it with the handy cubby hole. I replaced the card holder with a far more useful cup holder. And covered over the lighter with the flappy version

De-tarred the paint work and gave it a bit of a clean while the sun was out
