Facelift THE NEW AUDI A3 (2016 FACELIFT) – STILL AHEAD OF THE CURVE

A couple of things I wanted to ask from those who have recently taken ownership of the FL -(my order is for A3 1.4 TFSI COD Stronic Sportback with ACC
1. what MMI cable(s) does it come with
2. If I was going to ask the dealer to perform any tweaks prior to delivery (using VCDS or their equivalent?) what are the top 3-5 tweaks people tend to have? - I was thinking of passenger mirror dipping on reverse (if possible) and opening up ACC menu to change default distance but also may ask for one or two others if they will do so?

12% seems pretty good, my dealer has made out like they are doing me a huge favour by honouring the PFL deal they offered me but in all honesty its not far off this 12% you've had.

A couple of my new saloon in the dealer's compound.

It doesn't come with a cable but it's just 2x sub now under armrest but the dealer gave me the cable for free. You need a cable for the apple play if you are going to use it but to be honest the updated MMI is far better than the pre FL. I have heated seat and they are great but then I do start work early so may not be needed if you start st a sensible hour. The aluminium inlays with lights are a joy for £200.. See my previous posts for pics. Alloys can be good upgrades but really depends if you wanting upgrades to make the car look good or if you want technology for driver assistance. I only work a couple of miles away so the digital dash etc and the matrix lights weren't something I'd consider worth the dosh. But if your on the road for long journeys that may obviously be a different story.

Any normal lightning cable for iPhone will work, as well any micro-USB cable for Android phones, don't bother with the Audi extortionate cables unless you get a free one. I ordered a 1m spring cable for my Galaxy S7 Edge on eBay for £2.50, it's about 10cm long but extends to 1m, perfect for keeping my phone in the central armrest storage.

I asked the dealer about oil temp in DIS scroll (PFL S3) and the visual parking aid and they said neither were possible and VCDS is NOT audi approved and any tweaks will make the warranty a bit questionable (for that part presumably) as it would give Audi any excuse to say "well, it's been modified so we can't cover it"

Also any work done using VCDS will be deleted if ever the dealer needs to update the software for any reason.

My dealer did the upgrade to provide the extra menu for the ACC but this involved connection a cable from my OBD port to their laptop and then connecting their laptop to their main computer system. This was then connected to computers at Audi AG in Germany which download the necessary data. This is now stored by Audi AG as part of my car and will not get overwritten by any software upgrades. They did mine at one of the 'after-sales evenings' they hold every once in a while when they open up their workshop and have some of the technicians on hand to answer any questions.

Popped into Watford Audi and had a look in a Sportback they had in the showroom.

To be honest I was just over the moon they finally got the scroll wheel for the MMI to rotate the right way through the menu.....

That's always annoyed me as well. Glad to hear they have changed it. Almost worth changing the car for!!

Yeah I'd assume all the VCDS mods can be made in a similar way by connecting up to Audi HQ, probably just too much hassle for them on a regular basis though haha

The dealers equipment does not allow them to make most of the changes than can be made by VCDS. One of the Master Technicians at my local dealers has told me he has been known to bring his own copy of VCDS in to the workshop to make a particular change. He drives an Audi himself and uses VCDS on his own car.

If I told you you wouldn't believe me! :tearsofjoy:

Go on. Do tell! Seems like good deals then judging by your comment.

I'm actually thinking about a fully specced S3 for next motor (if there was a black styling pack) over the likes of the A45 to keep payments at like 450 with my deposit as opposed to 525 with the merc. Looking to buy a bigger property soon, so the broker will have a fit if he sees I shell out over 500 for a car lol. All my mates are astonished I even spend 410 at the moment!!

So does the apple CarPlay only work when plugged in via the Audi cable, or can you use a standard lightning to usb or Bluetooth?

Standard lightning cable, the calls in CarPlay go over Bluetooth but it still needs to be plugged in via USB.

I think Rams has got a rather special deal thats not really representative of what you or I could achieve due to his circumstances...but I'm nosey to so do tell!!

The issue is that currently Audi are offering just £900 contribution to the A3 SB and S3, while they are offering £2400 on the 3Door hatchback. I managed 16% on a 3door A3 I am contemplating swapping into, but only 12% on an S3. This was through my dealers retention dept. and so far no other dealers have been close, so think they have been able to throw a lot more at me than others can afford to...

thanks - although I mentioned VCDC in my earlier post I was meaning official audi dealer tweaks as you mention above - I thought the dealer might do the odd tweak before delivery if I asked politely! Is that realistic or am I being a bit hopeful?

Cheers - I assume you meant 2 x usb lol - the reason I asked about cables is because I thought I had read a post elsewhere on the forum along the lines of you get a cable(s) but make sure it is the correct one?

Well, I've had nothing but trouble for two years with my s3, in the end I got to the end of my patience with the car and Audi themselves so tried rejecting the car under advice from an ex salesman I know. The rejection was declined but they offered to put me in a new car of similar spec to mine. (£39,000). They came back with a stupidly expensive offer of £140 a month more than I pay now! This was after 'help' from Audi uk and the dealer making nothing on the deal. Idiots, like I was going to accept that! Anyway after numerous emails to CEOs, franchise managers, regional mangers etc I've now got a facelift s3 with sports seats, mag ride, "v" 19's, s tronic, glacier white( at the minute) tints and park sensors for £10 more a month with £500 deposit. Couldn't say no.

Just to add the deal at £140 a month more than I pay now was apparently with 15% discount so who knows what discount percentage I've got now!

sorry about the typing error. the dealer gave me a genuine Audi lead but after all the car was over £29000 RRP so really it shouldn't be a problem to get it for free.

Yea I'd like to think so with the amount of trouble I've had. Forgot to mention the £2500 negative equity they cancelled out aswel!

Nooooooo...after 3 years my brain is trained to use it the wrong way, don't think I could buy a face lift model knowing this unless I could change it back by VCDS :)

Strange, my A3 Saloon, due to be build BW34 (22/08/2016) went into QC this morning, it only went into Prep a few days ago. Maybe it's an error, doubt they built the car 4 weeks early!

Mine was BW31 and it has done the same thing, so maybe a big production week

Checking the audi API, it's actually at status 30, which is left factory? QC would be 24. Really odd!
