Hopefully bought a new Rs3!

I know what you're saying,I was the same when I collected my new Evo X a few years ago,I think the wife thought I was having an affair I was popping out that often.
My wife is coming with me to collect, but the plan is to then drop her off home and have a nice drive out to Oulton park for some pics and watch a bit of Motorsport.
Do Friday's get any better!!

Are there any other Cheshire owners about??
Sounds like the perfect day. If you check out the small events section
You can look at members list see who is in Cheshire. Link in my signature.

I'll take a look thanks.
There's a track day on with some car testing in between. There's usually one or two nice cars there on testing days.

That sounds most enjoyable. I'm sure you will have great day.

If I was nearer Cheshire I'd ask to be taken out in it!

I don't suppose anyone lives in Warwickshire... ;)

And what % discount did you manage to secure?

Sorry if that wasn't clear but the figures quoted in my post were from Audi finance. I went with Oracle in the end as I wanted a lower balloon and Audi couldn't match it. My approx deal now is 501pcm but with only 18k baloon. I was very lucky with my car, it was a cancelled customer order, which became their dealer demo. List with options as selected by the original purchaser was 48,995, they offered me 42,995 with expectation that millage would be 3k upon collection (car had ~270 miles at the time) so down my deposit. That was at very beginning of April and I had to wait 3 months to collect. Around that exact time they stopped taking orders for new ones and as a result car went on hardly any test drives and had only done 520 miles when i picked it up, so got 6k discount on a very near as damn it new car. Plus as a cancelled customer order it had been spec'd with the 5 year warrantee that i inherited. Happy Days!

Tbf you are the 2nd owner though (?) which does have an impact on sale price. 500 mile car with £6k off not to be sniffed at of course.

I know everybody goes on about discounts or lack of,I have the paperwork in front of me and it works out at 9.5%!!
Didn't go with Audi finance in the end but i was offered 5.9% with 7k down 22.4 balloon and 498 pcm
Does everyone buy cars on credit or just rent them these days? Reading this thread I found it odd that people were excited at a discount on the purchase price yet slapped most of it back on by paying on credit!

yeah for sure technically I am 2nd owner but 1st owner says Audi on V5 (original customer never took ownership) and my ownership date is 3 months after first reg with 500 miles on for 12% discount, like you said not to be sniffed :grinning:at and one of the main reasons I made the decision i did.

As regards resale, I think i'd disagree, I don't see this having any impact in 3-4 years time when i come to sell. Eventual sales price will come down to new owner comparing cars spec/mileage/condition not if one car was owned from new and one from 500 miles. If you did make that distinction on a decision to purchase or not, it would only make sense if the comparison car was completely identical in every way? Well that's how i see it!

Also question to the forum as you've got me thinking now! I have never bought a new new car before, when you do are the V5 previous owners details blank in those cases? Would seem a moot point if it is or not, as technically it was owned by Audi as you had to buy it from someone that owned it in the first place?

Anyways, i'll finish by saying to OP sorry for thread hijack! - best of luck on collection day (tomorrow?!) think we can all agree collecting a new car is a very special experience! My top tip - stick it dynamic mode and put front and rear windows down and a concrete block on your right foot!

Purchased my 8P Audi RS3 16th October 2011 (pushing 5-years now) and still H A P P Y :yahoo:

Am fortunate to own/drive an Audi TT ragtop and Audi A1 185bhp Black Edition, both DSG, but the RS3 is just something else; love it...

Well not initially no, but I figure that anyone who can afford to pay interest on the cost of the car can surely afford to save the same or smaller sum and pay *less* by earning interest instead of paying it. I picked up my car a few months ago and then started paying about £400 each month, much like others here. The difference being that it's going into an ISA and it's earning interest towards my next car in 3 years instead of paying interest to a lender. The £££ difference between earning interest and paying interest can be considerable. Perhaps I'm just old but it seems no-one bothers getting out of the borrow-repay cycle and into the save-pay cycle anymore, despite the money saved in the longer run. Perhaps it's because the Bank of England interest rates have been so low for so long.

I get what your saying but I think the problem with cars (especially expensive/niche cars) is that they are usually an emotive purchase where people can stretch themselves to their financial limits to buy the best one they can, therefore leaving little for savings!

With your theory you're basically saying when you pass your test at 17, don't buy a car. Wait till your 20 when you've saved up enough to buy it outright! Keep doing that and you won't need to lend money/use finance. I'm exaggerating of course.

Nah, the model I would recommend to a 17 year old is to borrow whatever you need to for a cheap first car but once you've paid the loan off, keep paying into a savings account and keep the car for at least a year after it's been paid off. For your next purchase you'll need a much smaller loan and therefore it's paid off quicker and therefore the saving portion of the car's lifetime is longer. By the time you're 23-25 year old, you'll never get a car loan again. That's a good place to be. PCP and PCH deals seem to be designed to entice people in by offering them the chance to drive cars that they can't really afford and will never really own, but it locks them into a cycle that it's tricky to get out of because they can't save the balloon payment whilst also paying the monthly fee.

Totally agree that's what you should do! But as I say, they're usually emotive purchases and it's human nature to push yourself to get the best you can. I shudder when I think of how much money I've spent on cars over the years...

Mate, I reckon you'll be feeling the same way as I did and everyone else the night before pick up. Like I said before, enjoy the experience and I will guarantee that by the time you are home, your purchase has been totally justified. When you hear that first up shift / downshift pops...If Carlsberg did cars...

Well, I've picked the beast up! I'm very very happy with it apart from it having a slight mark on the bonnet when collected which the garage are sorting next week.
I ended up taking the car for a drive over the hills toward Buxton with the wife and got stuck in a thunderstorm!! The car is now absolutely filthy,it looks like I've been on a rally stage! It really is a beast of a machines when you want it to be yet a comfortable cruiser when you flick the switch.
I've not given it the full beans yet as I think I'll put a few more miles on it first and the wife was with me and she's a nervous passenger.
All being well I'll stick some pics up over the weekend when it's had a wash.

Needless to say, I'm a very happy chappy!

I would have updated you all earlier, but I've been the family taxi tonight aswell!!

Knew you wouldn't be disappointed mate. Take care washing it mate.

Anybody know a good detailer in the northwest? I'll be honest I'm not impressed with the finish of the car from Audi, looks like it's got a few bird poo marks on the paint that have obviously just been left to bake on the car!
