I already suggested this .It's not a bad car for the money..:salute:
Not at all, stage 2 would outrun most cars as well seen as it only weighs 1200 kilos

Inquiries into a new S3 have begun...the slippery slope continues...

By my calculations I am about 2 stages away from the RS5?
I like that :D
It's obvious you like your S5 a lot and rightly so I must say! Cracking car.
why not keep it and you trade in the Mini for an A3 for Mrs Eskimo? Or do you really feel obliged to get rid of the S5?

Agreed...I am almost certainly a southern snob....

Got some figures on an S3 and not gonna happen. Would actually be more expensive on finance than I'm currently on my S5 so complete no go...

Looking like the Daytona Grey A3 is winning too with Ms Eskimo. Didn't realise that she quite passionately dislikes white! I prefer Daytona so its a win for me....Gonna miss that B&O though :(

Yea I really do :( She's happy to keep the Mini, sees no point go getting rid of that to get something that will cost her loads. The S5 on the other hand, is a bit of a money pit and since she won't drive it it will literally just sit there from Monday-Friday...

Afraid trading it in for a cheaper A3 is the sensible option and the days are numbered. Doesn't look like the A3 will be in until September/October so got some time to enjoy the beast yet!

Might even do a big road trip around UK on my time off next month :)

There is also the nuclear option - change your girlfriend! No that's a terrible thing to say so don't be angry

But as an A3 1.4 owner I can say you'll love it especially with the S-Tronic box.

Ha!

Wish the job was commutable by car really...now I have to get rid of the S5 AND take a smelly train in everyday.... :(

Glad to hear you're liking your A3 though. Should make my occasional commutes enjoyable :)

One consolation though...the Bang & Olufsen does sound better in the A5/S5

So looks like my decision is made...will have a a new Daytona Grey A3 1.4TFSI S-Line in September/October...!

One thing that did annoy me about the spec was the fact it was missing the tech pack, and I didn't fancy having to deal with a small, low-res screen....

However....am I right in thinking that the new FL model has finally got rid of that distinction? It seems to suggest the MMI has a 7" screen as standard? Apologies if this is written in that other mammoth thread on the FL A3...

At least I haven't created another useless thread ey Jassy ;)

Good choice. If you happy that's all that matters. The A3 is a good car. Not to long to wait really :)

Looking at the price and spec document from the Audi UK website ALL facelift A3s now have the same 7" MMI screen.

Cheers Sandra....If I'm being completely honest I hope the wait is long, so I can drive my S5 as much as possible!

Certainly looks the case. Im guessing there is little reason to have different resolutions on the same size screen.....

Does make the tech pack hard to justify...I use the Jukebox in my S5, but I also keep the SD card in so a bit pointless...never played DVDs, have a iPhone so wireless charging is lost on me....about the only real advantage is the touch scroll wheel....but I bet that novelty wears thin pretty quickly!

Shame you have to fork out as much as £1400 to get the virtual cockpit...

I loved my Scirocco. Wasn't the R. Just the 210 GT DSG.

The A3 sounds like a great deal. :friends:

Nah you're alright...never liked the scirocco...Also decided lease deals aren't for me. Spoke to the company about that Golf R and the vagueness when I asked him who the contract would actually be with, and what charges would I incur if I wanted to terminate the agreement early, were enough to make me think 'No thanks..."

I have actually gone the other way. Leaving PCP to lease and don't think I will go back as long as my mileage remains low. Problem with a lease is you can't terminate early, you are in it for the whole 2 years unless you pay something like half the remaining payments. Realistically though if you try to get out of a 4 year PCP within the first 2 years you are going to get hammered on negative equity so I would argue it is no more flexible.

I have signed up for the below personal contract hire deal. It was arranged through a broker but is funded by Alphabet which is a BMW owned fleet management company.

Audi S3 Sportback S Tronic with daytona grey finish and privacy glass
2 years
8000 miles p.a
£990 initial payment followed by £330 per month for 23 months

Hoping to get it by mid October.

Yea bet they are great fun! I'm a Coupé guy, but for some reason never warmed to the Scirocco...

Cheers! I would of been happy with 16% discount on the previous model so chuffed with that. Trade in on my S5 is decent, but was hoping for a little bit more. Will try WBAC next month to see if I can get a bit more. Considering I put £6k down initially (and £1,400 was to pay for the tech pack...) and I'm getting £3k in equity seems reasonable...especially as I'm only 9months in on my 24month term...

Hilarious the variety in trade in I got from different dealers...in fact this dealer started by offering me -£200 equity!!

Now I know it won't have the smaller, low res screen, I'm a lot happier with it! Still would personally spec the comfort and sound over the Parking +, but hey ho...

When you get the quote from WBAC get an appointment with Evan Halshaw and they guarantee to beat it.

PS I got 2.2k more from EH than Audi offered me.

The equity thing with a PCP is just a signal of its depreciation. If you get a good enough discount and a decent trade in figure its fine. Car will cost you X amount in depreciation no matter how you pay, and as we all know, its always steepest in the first year. I guess with a good lease deal you are negotiating a good discount and a fair trade in from the off set...

That is a stinking good deal for an S3 though...that personal....you git you've got me looking at it again!!

Will do...doubt I'll get that much more though!!

I went to a Evans Halshaw for a friend and they told us they dont just buy cars anymore...has to be for a P/X?? Or maybe I went somewhere else?

EH up here definitely do a WBAC side to their business. It was March last year I sold me car to get into the Audi. Audi offered 10k to trade it in, EH gave me 12.2k

Yep it's an expensive option... You also get Audi Connect 36 month paid so you get Google maps etc and 5 free map updates.

Will be interesting to see how much it is to extend the Audi Connect beyond the 3months you get as standard...

But I'm going to be more intrigued to see how much I use CarPlay over the MMI....Although I wish I had an Android as Android Auto looks lightyears ahead of Apple Car Play...and of course Google Maps > Apple Maps.

Ah yes it does seem to be dealer dependent. Thankfully another local dealership seem to do it. Shame as My friend could of got a bit more for theirs if I had known!

The other half used to work for an EH main dealer, all they did with the WBAC guarantee is enter your car details into WBAC's website and add a fiver... Cheeky but I suppose they're still beating it!

Not too bad considering the cost of a data sim only...

Ha not a fan then...? Never owned one, but I've been considering moving over for a while now.
