Hi Could anyone recommend an Indy in the northwest for a window regulator repair. Tried Audi CS and they fobbed me off, tried a couple of other Audi dealers and they want to diagnose for £120 + vat just to tell me what I already know. Thanks in advance

Mine is booked in for a window regulator diagnosis with Cardiff Audi next month. Even though I've had 3 VAG cars and gone through 6 window regs, they still demand they have it for diagnosis first!

Cardiff Audi are charging £60 for diagnosis mind so it could be worth asking them to price match?

I'll be onto Audi UK after the diagnosis asking for a goodwill gesture or contribution due to the fact its broken due to a poor design flaw.

I had the problem with my previous A5 and first dealer said they would need to run the diagnostic first at £120, and didn't get any reassurance that they would help with the cost if I got lumped with a £1200 build.

Rang another local dealer from a different group, they explained that if I was their customer they wouldn't make me pay, said they would run a diagnosis for free, and if it was the regulator, they would only make me pay the £120 diagnosis fee towards the fix. Ended up getting brakes and gearbox service done while it was in so it ended up only costing me £100.

Shop around matey!

Wow that's a good deal!

I ended up talking with Audi UK who said they would be able to help me with the regulator and asked me to book into the a service centre. I chose Blackburn as it was the one nearest to me and I have used them before for other repair work. Although over the phone they didn't agree on anything they were hinting that some contribution would be given so I booked in and was told the diagnosis fee would be £60. After 2 days of communications with Audi UK i still wasn't sure on contribution but authorised the repair as it needed resolving anyway. After the repair was done it was decided that they wouldn't contribute due to the car not being serviced by them the last few years, by now I was worried how much the bill would be but when I called Audi Blackburn they told me it was £300 which is around the quote I got from a few other dealers.

So the diagnostic and the regulator came to £300? That's not too bad!

Just checked the invoice again and it looks like they didn't charge me for the diagnostic. The cost of the part was £130.85 Inc vat and labour was £169
