just shamefully ordered some red bits for my S3 :)

You're right ! - saw an RS3 with them at the w/e there's a fair bit of the underside surface showing through the outer rectangles if you have the vent directed too far away from centre. Gonna take a bit longer then planned but thanks for pointing that out ;o) .....
I think I pointed this out in an earlier post...Good luck Rob...Looking forward to seeing the end result....:friends:

Just checked and in the first picture you see the full front, when fully open in the second picture you can clearly see alot of the back also, so IMO you need to do both sides.

Thanks for the pics - looks good - if I get anywhere near that I'll be well pleased think lots of coats will help.

Good spot ! - I did mate - timed out and as with all my mods has to be 'under the radar'.

Simplest mod to date unplug originals plug in new ones !!

Its worth getting the originals IMO, firstly they are OEM and secondly when you sell the car pop them out and put others back and sell on the red ones and probably get most of your $$ back.

Yep a fair wedge of cash but quite an intricate piece of engineering too so easy to see why Audi charge this.

Ah well, can't take my overdraft facility with me so may as well spend it LoL !!

I have to try this! I was trying desperately to get one of the special edition S3s in Sepang with the contrast stitching in blue and the dash and door aluminum trim pieces done in the body color, but no luck. :frown: I've been thinking about doing the trim pieces myself or getting them done professionally, but this is a great first project that doesn't seem to be too easy to screw up, (I'm definitely going with blue accents though!) I found a great model car spray paint that is as close as I've ever seen to Sepang so I'm going to give this vent project a try and see how my car looks with a touch of blue...

Sounds like a plan mate keep us posted with pics - only red ones done so far ! Alloy door trims should be pretty straight forward to have sprayed up but you need to take the door trims off to remove them which isn't too difficult a job.

I've been wondering about that. Do these trim pieces just snap on and snap off or is it more involved than that? I have to assume it's more involved for the dash trim pieces...

@Reznor you mind sharing a link to the paint please? Or a brand name / colour?

And as far as I've read, it is the dash ones that actually pop off from the front BUT WAIT FOR CONFIRMATION don't ruin them haha.. I may be thinking about something else

Little bit more involved they just pull to remove no bolts behind them like the door trims but you really need to remove the air con central switch block with some stereo removal keys.

Nice!!! This is by far the easiest mod I have ever done and with the best results! The model car spray paint I found that is closest to Sepang is a Tamiya Color TS-50 Mica Blue - a very popular and high quality brand from Japan available in most hobby shops and lots of online stores. This is a spray paint intended for plastics without needing a primer or anything and I put on 4 light coats on each side of the flaps to get the full color depth. This is not an exact match - if you held up a piece to the body paint you would notice a difference, but as I said, as close as I have been able to find.
I just started with one and had some trouble getting good lighting tonight but managed to get a comparison between the inner door paint and the vent - I will post another couple shots when I get all 4 done!

Nice work, looks like a good job, I am glad I have seen this now as TBH I don't like it as much as I do the red, not sure why but for me the red works better.

Nice one @Reznor! I've used some Tamiya paint in the past, a different shade of blue, for something else and it is very good quality and easy to use!

Looks good! :)
