Facelift THE NEW AUDI A3 (2016 FACELIFT) – STILL AHEAD OF THE CURVE

the car hadnt been done with the autoglym protection that i thought i was getting but wasn't an issue as i'd heard bad things about it. anyway car looked great but when i got home it had loads of little marks where the glue from the protection had been. I've spent a few hours giving it a resin polish and then applying a coat of wax...mrs thinks i'm potty...says a £30 grand car and you polishing it on its first day. They just don't understand do they? Anyway hope you all like the pics if you want any others doing or any questions let me know but i haven't had time to have a play with the MMI and sat nav properly yet. i gotta say the interior changes are very subtle but do improve the feel over the pre fl. i think Audi have just left alone mainly but improved where they could....gota say i like

Lovely car mate bet you are made up! I am glad the interior is white I personally prefer it over the red. I don't think your mad polishing your car on day one haha, I would 100% be doing the same if it wasn't perfect.

I would say the LED lights around the door trims are the £200 extra as it pretty much makes sense. Wish it was clearer when I ordered but it's nothing to complain over.

Could you take a picture of the trims in daylight including dashboard, that way - if they are the same style / colour I've seen then the addition of the LED lights has to be the £200 extra. No rush just when you get chance mate

picked car up today.... Here's more pics as promised
I like those alloys, not seen them before!

All I will say about solid colours, is that solid black paint is a complete nightmare. Solid white is fine, wouldn't personally pay over the odds for metallic white over solid if I was speccing, but solid black is different story.

Black is a full time job in either guise though so....
Oh yes it is, looks nice clean but after about 2 mins!!! Hence why I'm getting white next :)

There was a choice of three S3's when I got my car they were two sportbacks one red(not sure which type) and a sepang blue and the one I picked white saloon.
The reason for my choice was that it was a saloon and also if I went for the other colours I knew I would not be able to keep up with the polishing ..
White hides a lot of imperfections compared with the other colour choices that were avaliable to me..

Yea thats a very appealing advantage! While it may show dirt more, it doesn't show scratches and swirls. Dirt is a hell of a let easier to remove than swirls and scratches!!

@DrEskimo just don't let your eye catch it in the sunlight when the swirls do show up. As long as your OCD doesn't kick in you'll be fine. My last car was white and was a doddle to keep looking good. Plenty AG SRP topped with AG EGP was more than enough to make it gleaming.
It's the only car where AG SRP has been a god send. Anything other than white and it's not great. Although a good go to for a quick shine.

I'm convinced you are right about this... if you look on the configurator, the image changes slightly when you add "Inlays - Matt-brushed aluminium, light design", you can just make out the LED strip below the actual trim piece

It is isn't it. Complaints already on the current leather seats creasing up very quickly but that cars probably only delivery miles if that. But people getting in and out of it 20-30 times a day. Even still, that's very poor. If you were buying that car you'd be asking for a new seat to be put in!

I must admit I've been a member of this forum for over 13 years and I've never known such much discussion on a single colour - Blue. When I purchased my current A3 back in 2014 there were only two colour being considered Black or White. When I visited the Ingolstadt plant the year before almost every A3/S3 on the line was either Black or White. A3 Saloons are not built in Germany so I cannot comment on them.

Well on this rare occasion l have to agree with you Dave...lol...they should just put up shut up about blue paint colours,ie if they dont like the colour pay for one they do like, threads been turned into a 4 month boring brain drain

Well that does make a change !! Perhaps this particular thread has got to large and is now covering everything about the current (FL) A3/S3 in the one thread. Perhaps we should have Faclift A3/S3 - colours, Facelift A3/S3 - photos, Facelift A3/S3 - Specification etc etc.

I've found a lot of the info on this thread really useful, and the photos posted with Cosmos Blue cars are helpful, since it's a new colour to the A3 and people are unsure how dark or light it actually is.

Now I see them inlays properly, I really really want them Yeah I'm about 99% sure now they are an extra. Wish it was clearer when I placed the order, but ohh well, should be enough LED's to keep me entertained any how! Nice looking car btw mate!
Thanks Jack... nice to know i'vemade some right decisions. wasn't sure about the colour or the wheels as they are both new options but turned out fine

I'll sort it tomorrow cryptic....mrs had me decorating today...think i've some pain ahead as she finally gave in to my wanting a new motor....another diamond ring has been mentioned.(gulp) but when i picked the car up yesterday the sales guy is nearly 100 % sure that my inlays wouldn't have had the LEDs if car hadn't had the upgraded inlays. but he said everything is so new and with cars only just getting to them its a learning curve. Apparently my car has attracted some serious viewers since arriving at their dealership...but then it was meant for the showroom so it was expected

@h5djr good idea. Thread was started really to showcase the FL as the info had been released. As you suggest, better to split the thread now? Don't think a new member would sit and read through 73 pages of info, banter, discussions and disagreements?

@gripross so are you missing the LED inlays?
no mate my car has the LED inlays .... its just that theres been a lot of confussion as to weather they are standard or not. i putsome pics up last week when i went to look at the car and someone spotted the LEDs and so thought they were a standard feature. but then i had to tell everyone my car had the aluminium inlays fitted at £200 cost

Haha, very good. If anyone with a discussion relating to a specific aspect of the FL can open a new thread. You made the suggestion, I agreed, and Jassy did as well, I think for the first time.
If there is a consensus then I'll start a few new threads?

I would quite happy to create the new threads, but I thought, as the existing one was created by a moderator it would be better coming from a current moderator rather than one from many years ago, probably before your time. If I did it Sandra would probably tell me off.

Perhaps they should have there own little piece/part of the forum?

Then they could debate for hours about cosmos and Navarra

Unfortunately Audi UK will not give me details of the numbers sold in the UK. The Saloon figure is obvious much higher because the US prefers Saloons (Sedans) to hatchbacks.

I'm exchanging e-mails with Audi now. I forgot when but I put a request in for those stats and they finally got back to me. Hopefully they'll provide them...though they wanted my address and telephone number. Probably misunderstood my request and thought I wanted to buy an A3 - I'm expecting to be flooded with brochures.

@h5djr 5]@jassyo06[/USER] @pburv @Scottyg @Simon L @Daveotto
And all you other regulars. You can off course set up a few new threads about the new Fl car. Please keep the gifs to a minimum, banter Under control Let's have some factual discussions and info and have less of the reported posts from this section as it is getting very tiresome., so after typing that out its a YES, from me. The more info the better.
P.S I a bit sad you all think I would disagree with need to start new threads. I always been more than fair with you all

When I asked for the same stats some weeks ago they said they were unable (more like unwilling) to provide them. Hope you get a better result

What do regulars on this thread want set up, if anything? A few thread on specifics of the FL? Such as interior, colours, wheels? Or do you want this thread to continue?
As I said previously, new members may be a little put off with reading through 73 pages.
Let me know your thoughts and I'll go with what the majority want.

Personally I feel there are many duplicate threads, especially about colours, that need puning already. If we have yet another one about FL colour specifically it will be confusing to any individual as to which thread is relevent...

Well I'd say for someone interested in buying the FL A3/S3 it doesn't hurt to read this thread from April onwards or May/June when more accurate info started to appear. It's good to listen before speaking and it's good to read before asking questions ;-)

Given the necessary 'access' I would be happy to trawl through the existing thread and move all the posts about 'colours' to a new thread titled accordingly. That way there would be just the one thread related to the new facelift and the colours available. Once that was done I would be happy to do the same for other specific items to newly created threads including a new Facelift General thread. This would require the existing thread to be 'closed to new posts' so that any new ones go in to the correct thread. The existing thread could obviously remain, but as read only.
