Hi all, is it possible to add a TV tuner to the standard MMI set up on a MY2017 A6 Black Edition? If not, what will I need and how much would it cost to do? Thanks all!

In your head how much are you willing to spend as it isn't cheap.

I'm guessing it's likely to be a similar price to speccing the tech pack at time of ordering, which unfortunately I can't do as taking a stock car...

All retrofits cost more than the original factory price, honestly as good as a TV tuner is to have in the car, it's not worth the price as you'll be well over £1000.

Expected but if it comes along with the other MMI Plus benefits such as connect it'll be worth it for the time I spend in the car

I think you need the MMI Plus system rather than the standard RMC system to add the TV Tuner. As other have said you will be looking at a very high price for all of this. I have never really understood the point of the TV Tuner option as it only works with the car stationary (unless you activate Video in Motion using VCDS) and on the mover the likely hood of getting a good enough signal is uinlikely. Also unlike the system in a Range Rover you do not have the ability for the passenger to watch TV while the driver can look at navigation.

Forget about TV if you have the basic RMC setup. To retrofit TV a new screen, control panel, antenna's, wiring harnesses, TV tuner and 5F module is required so your looking at a bill of around £1500-£2000 just on parts (with most being used). You then need to install that lot yourself or pay someone to install it.

Easiest install is a car with tech pack fitted & BOSE so the optic cables are already ran to the boot.

I have TV on my C6 A6 and it does come in useful (waiting for the better half) and you still get audio on the move, and let's face it everything is a repeat these days. I just listen to top gear on the way home from work. Going to retrofit it on my C7 but I only need the module & antenna's, as it was a lot cheaper that the £1000 option from factory.

Thanks all, got a quote from Hazzy Dayz for about £3500 (from memory)! Idea on the scrap pile I reckon! OR done slowly over time

Any better/cheaper ideas?

Not with the RMC system, the options if any will be very limited.

I know it is a bit late in the day but I have just fitted a Small Sumvision unit via a AMI to composite video cable to the basic MMI unit in my new A6 Avant S line. This is a WiFi unit with a remote control, it supports Video, Photo, Music playback and cast's to the screen from a smartphone. It will read from a one terrabyte USB drive or a SD card. I have loaded a number of movies onto a 64gb Micro SD card to watch whilst waiting for the numerous ferry crossing's I make throughout the year.

Wonderful tips - £400 for a decent spec iPad - no thanks. £260 for a RMC - no thanks. £38 for a Cyclone mini 4 - go on then

hi, ive a 2015 A6 with (i think) the tech pack plus.... dvd player and google earth and audi connect etc, can i fit a tv module? cheers

There are modules, brackets, wiring harnesses, optical cables, areal modules and cabling. It's not a plug and play install, and there is a fair amount of parts to order.
