After 5 months of hardcore searching, I finally got my baby!!

Its an Audi A5 Black Edition 3.0 with the S Tronic box (245bhp)

lost out on two as they are so sought after that they went in literally the matter of hours of being advertised

I will be (hopefully) retrofitting the light pack and folding mirrors, the calipers need painting black - and i have my eyes on some S5 pedals too. I am in love - the car is effortless to drive and is rapid! especially in the rain! Still have the B7 as a daily car - this is a weekend treat!

Does anyone know where to get the LED interior lights from (premium ones which work not cheap ones!) have emailed EM Tuning but had no reply since Tuesday...

Congrats! My old A5 was phantom black and it really does look so mean in black! That needs to be driven regularly! Sounds like a punishment to only drive it on the weekends!

Have you tried sending T8ups a PM on here? His service is excellent and the quality of the LEDs he supplies are fantastic. Would get the fog lights too!

Thanks @desertstorm !! i will certainly be mapping it in the coming months ahead! will have a look at your build thread for inspiration :)

Nice motor !

...and ditto...have had my Phantom Black A5 3.0TDi Sline Quattro Black Edition for 2 weeks now......its a minter with very low mileage 2011 facelifted version, full Audi History, with 19" Alloys, B&O, Light pack, light pack, Electric Memory Seats, folding mirrors, privacy glass, parking plus sensors, Sat Nav, S-Tronic, full heated black leather, panoramic roof....and all I can say is it flippin AWESOME !!! Got my Westphalia hidden towbar on it for my bike carrier.
Bestthing is its not much more to insure than my old Audi A4 2.0TDi Quattro, and only £20 odd a year extra to tax,,,,,,,and the difference in performance is pretty impressive.

Had to wait a while and travel 200 miles to get mine !

10/10 for a grin factor !!!!!

The "only" negative is that its a pig to keep clean ;-) - but I can live with that !

LOL - Having phantom black myself and living in the country I'll agree that keeping it clean is a swine.

Get yourself onto polished bliss and get the Blackfire pack and you will love the results:yes:.

T8ups is usually really prompt and the LED pack is so good especially in the boot.

As DS says get it mapped and you'll wonder if you B7 was really powered by an elastic band:yahoo:.

Transmission mount is a worthwhile cheap easy mod as well, smooths things up a lot!

Welcome to the 3.0TDI club:welcome!:

No, I don't have a build thread yet........all those options were on the car when it was built as new.........
Jobs to do are 1) One alloy has a mega minor scuff so will get that sorted, 2) a small scuff on back bumper and 3) one minor door ding (which is right on the crease so dont expect to get that 100% fixed, maybe improved - you can only see it from certain angles)....intend to change the foglamp bulbs (from T8ups)

Rusty brake calipers will have some attention when the weather gets better.

I have had the S-Tronic gearbox oil changed already. OEM rubber mats (essential in the North West or North Wet) and boot liner.

I would like to put mudflaps on it, but apparently the S-Line A5's cannot have OEM mudflaps due to the S-Line bodykit........I am sure someone out there will say thats rubbish.......

One last thing is my car does not have the Stop Start which to me is great.......but was it an option in the 1st place ?

Edit - one last thing - the previous owner knew he was due to trade it in, but needed new tyres so fitted Kumho's......they are not long for this world either - sheesh....

ah yes! I remember seeing your car advertised on autotrader, I was tempted but was after the facelift model! I was pulling my hair out last night thinking I missed a model with the options I wanted!!

I think start/stop was an option but become standard on later cars

gave her a clean over the weekend - wanted to spend the whole day on her but I only had 3 hours of no direct sun as it certainly was sunny over the weekend!

Yes, I did um and ah about it - but it was such a minter with a verifiable history (I even spoke to the previous owner and Audi) I would of been nuts to turn it down. Yes I would of liked the facelifted version but I did not want to take on any finance.

....driving to work now puts a grin on my chops :)

A few updates since the purchase

The car developed a fault with the instrument cluster which was visible when i inspected the car at the dealership

one of the LEDs on the rev counter was flickering and although it’s a quick fix (clocks out and stripped and LED replaced) the dealership agreed to pay Audi for the clocks to be replaced

As a side note, Harold Wood Audi will not be getting a visit from me when it comes to servicing time!

A few "refinements" have been made over the past few weeks

20160314_110308000_i_OS.jpg

The car is seriously quick in stock form but I wanted the extra oomph which I know this engine and gearbox can handle

We mapped the car (Stage 1) with our new genius tool which should see the car pushing just under 300bhp

20160314_110316000_i_OS.jpg

The car now feels stronger especially mid-range - I am seriously pleased with the performance!

the car never came with the "light pack" and i still cant believe Audi sell "high end" cars without a glovebox light but thanks to Trups LED retrofit kit, the installation was pretty much plug and play and looks OEM+

20160313_200340548_i_OS.jpg

I also fitted Trups LED interior lights and the fog light replacement (pics to follow)

The brake callipers were looking a bit tired so we painted them black which looks so much better

20160314_113016000_i_OS.jpg

I picked some folding mirrors from TPS along with the switch and trim bits associated with the retrofit kit. I was hoping it was plug and play but I discovered AFTER I put the trim back together that I have low line door modules so I have to upgrade those too!

Updates:

the time came for the interim service (oil and oil filter change)

I wanted to keep the FASH on the car for the new owner (I am looking to upgrade at the end of the year)

Being in the trade, I already had the OEM oil and filter - essentially i just needed the dealership stamp!!

I called Harold Wood and Southend Audi both of whom are local. Harold Wood did not want to know about the customer bringing their own parts in and using them just for labour (apparently they do not offer that service!)

Southend Audi quoted me £169 just for the labour!!

After some reading and asking around on the AOUK Facebook page, I was recommended Stansted Audi. I have been told they are one in the top 10 dealers in the UK for customer service (not sure how I can verify this!)

After an email to their service team, I was quoted £95 for labour all inc

I decided to wait while they worked on my car and I must admit I actually felt like a valued customer. The receptionists were very attentive (I was asked twice if I wanted further refreshments!) and generally the attitude in the showroom was positive and customer focused. A complete contrast to Harold Wood Audi who took £1500 cash for a cluster swap some months ago! (paid for by the dealership I purchased the car from) and they took 2 days to carry this out!
Audi customer services will be speaking to Harold Wood to ask why they declined to work on a car with the customer bringing their own OEM parts and declining without an explanation)

The car also needed a firmware update on the aircon unit

The car was washed, hoovered, visually inspected and I was off! extremely satisfied. the service book has also been stamped. I will carry out the filter change myself.

Another thumbs up for Audi Stansted (ask for David Downing)

I also recently fitted the RS5 Pedals

I will hopefully fit the dead pedal this weekend!

Do yourself an enormous favour and get that valet key out of your glovebox and as far away from the car as possible. That's probably the #1 reason for Audis getting nicked without much apparent effort by the crooks - break PS window, reach into glove box and, bingo!
Do it right now, especially as you've helpfully supplied your reg plate to help identify the car!

already done mate, I took that pic of the day it went to Audi for the cluster swap, also disabled the window dropping on the door lock too
