Used carista to clear a couple of error codes when car broke down, the car is in garage but they cant get any error codes to come up, so im stuck big time atm. Has anybody got any ideas on how to get codes back up please

You need a VCDS to read the ecu, they'll all be on there

The garage i take my car to only has snap-on diagnostic stuff and no codes would come up with it,so if what you say is true that has cheered me up,thought i may need to get car towed to audi

If he cleared them they won't be in VCDS as he didn't save the codes prior to deleting them. Unfortunately unless Carista has a backup on your phone your just going to have to wait for the codes to come up again. If the problem is still there and the code isn't Carista may have something implemented that stops the code from re-appearing straight away, so maybe VCDS could be of help if that is true.

Snapon isn't great to be fair, I've used snapon showed no codes, vcds showed codes so I wouldn't go by that. Try find someone in your area!

There is an auto electrician next to the garage where my car is and hes supposed to have the proper vag software,i will just have to wait till he can scan it but hes got tons of work on atm

Good news you've got an issue to work with Kronny and also think of how much you'll enjoy it once it's back.

Update
New fuel pump fitted got car going, reached 2000rpm and died, scan showed up the dreaded p0016 error code, timing chain stretched but no engine damage, car should be done by Tuesday hopefully.

Ouch feel for you Kronny nothing worse than chase faults.

Going forward:- always always always record any logged faults before clearing them, with VCDS it is simple as it can save within VCDS, with Carista after carrying out a scan there is always the option to send the log file by email - both so easy!

Was it the timing chain then? Good to hear all is running well.

I emailed carista and asked if a log was kept for error codes there wasn't but they would look into it for a future feature.
Could be handy if your a bit daft like me

I thought that when I initially got Carista and used it, after running a scan, it was very easy to email the results out. Now months on and after updating to V3, when I ran a scan, I did not see any obvious way to email the scan results out - other send "send debug" or something, so I used that and changed the addressee to my email address.
