no it was off, but it was a rear and the 4wd helped it stay straight so it look worse than it was, i just cant out why there are 2 holes ?

I take it that you'll get the tyre looked at?

I would of shat my pants.Glad to see no other damage to you or the car.

You mean back to goodyear ?

I think I've worked out what happened, the smaller hole is actually what caused it, the massive "gap" in the sidewall is probably due to running flat at 140mph

Hi,

Just thought i,d add my 2p worth,

I know nothing about tyres but i,m pretty much over qualified when it comes to things going bang.................

The small hole for my money was caused by the slack in the tyres band at speed and under load, nipping the rim as the belt shifted thus cutting the tyre, there has been no rapid escape of forced air at this point !

The blast happened at the larger hole, see the deposits around the inner rim where the air escaped, the hole would not have been this big initially however the flapping effect of the shredding would have torn a larger hole and there should be thinning of the tyre wall from the inside out, marginally, and not overly so but you will be able to see the shamfered edge ?

Glad to see you are ok by the way,

F F Sake - Lucky boy!!

If that was on the front at that sort of speed it could have been very messy indeed......

Doesn't bear thinking about really!

Glad you are OK

Glad you are ok, do you think the tyre was damaged at all before this happened??

Im assuming it must have been!!

Ouch, indeed thank gawd all is well and you can tell the story. Lucky it was a rear blow out!
