Hi all, I have a 54plate A3 8p sport back, i just went to remove my rear wiper motor and wiper arm to blank it off because 1 I think they look ugly and 2 it's broke and makes the worst squealing noise ever, my problem is getting the wiper arm off the motor, I took the bolt off that holds the arm to the motor and the washer jet to but I can't pull the arm off its like it's welded on I tried WD40 and brute force I tried levering it off with a screw driver but I can't get it off, is there an easy way to get it off or is there a tool u can buy to help or what? Any help would be hugely appreciated thanks.

You can buy a puller, i just cut mine through the alloy bit that is on the motor stem.

I had the same problem removing mine. I tried one of the puller tools but still couldn't get it off, took a hacksaw to it in the end!

Most of the wiper removal tools are crap....get yourself a gear puller set much tougher!

I've got a little puller at home , think it was described as a battery terminal puller, it removes wiper arms with ease!
It cost under a tenner a few years ago from Machine Mart and it has been great!
Some wiper arms can be seriously hard to budge and the risk of breaking glass without the proper tool is all too great IMHO.

Thanks everyone, I've removed the wiper arms and motors on all my other cars and had no issue but obviously this being an audi nothing is as easy as it 1st seems haha, I'll try to find a pulling device of some kind and add it to my long list of tools I'm probably only going to ever use once, If not I'll probably end up cutting the thing like other people have done seeing as it's broke anyway :) thanks all.

i used some pliers to get mine off
one side was holding behind the wiper and the other side was holding the center pin, worked perfectly

Windscreen wipers are very useful when it rains. It rains a lot in the uk.

I tried that idea to it didn't work haha, the wiper arm is on there pretty good :) I've just ordered a battery terminal puller see if that works.

Yh I agree I use my front windscreen wipers a lot, but it is my rear one I am removing as it's broke :)

Fix it then you have a lovely working wiper that clears the screen for viewing pleasure, increases safety, enhances driver awareness...and you don't look like a tool with a 'de-wipered' car in the UK.

If you live in LA, then its workable.

Naa I'd rather take it off as I've never used them on any car I've owned and always removed them, I just think the boot looks cleaner and tidier with out them on there, just personal opinion and considering its broke and the arm just flops down I'd rather take it off, not every car in the UK has rear wipers, but thanks for the input ;)

wrap a rag around the spindle end of the arm, then slowly soak it in boiling water. Leave a few mins and try again:whistle2:

Thanks for the reply, I've bought a pulling tool now if that doesn't work I'll give this a go, thanks again.

This is the puller I've got:
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/cht436-battery-terminal-bearing-puller/

I used this to remove the rear wiper arm on my B5 A4 Avant when I went to Aero-style wipers.
It was very firmly stuck on and even with the puller used it required a surprising amount of force, it released with quite a bang, there was no way it would have come off otherwise.
I did had to wrap some black PVC tape around the jaws to prevent marking the wiper arm, but if you're binning yours it isn't important!

Fitted for a reason, reducing safety elements to look 'cleaner' is moronic by most peoples standards - but obviously not everyones, it will be a set of Chinese Fullrun tyres next I bet!

I don't use it so it's not needed and is being removed, I've never used the rear wiper on my cars and the face it comes on when in reverse and makes the worst squeal ever and flops down onto my boot and marks it is more than enough reason for me to remove it

I got mine off without any tools to replace the whole motor unit/wiper arm, you have to rock it, pretty ****** hard, I'd advise what byzan suggested and wrap it in a rag for 10 minutes first. - was scared of shattering the glass etc but it did come away.

Yh that's what I'm afraid of, shattering the glass can't afford that to just payed for a new clutch n flywheel and a new windscreen so can't really afford a new glass panel for the boot tbh haha, I was going to do that tbh the hot rag idea just to loosen it up before i go at it with this pulling tool, cheers for reply :)
