eBay wheels - any one braved it?

That old saying - 'if it seems to good to be true, it probably is'.

Well looking at these wheels on the Bay:

Seems to be a good deal - anyone had any experience of them? Look similar to the RS3 rotas, but at a fraction of the cost.

Thoughts?!

They are just replicas, cheap and cheerful, not genuine! What's the issue?

I've been using replica wheels for the last 15 years, probably had 10 sets+, never bent one. My latest set are 20" though, so we will see how I get on with these. :)

They look smart!

I wonder though...if the Audi star nut cover will fit these wheels?

Also used a few rep sets, even saved my genuine alloys when the Mrs hit the mother of all pot hole and wrecked to alloys & tyres. Far cheaper to replace than the OEM wheels when they get damaged.

These replicas are the first set I've purchase to use the factory 'radius' bolts, my previous ones have always used after market tapered bolts. Which suggests they used the original wheels as the cast. So I can only presume the star nut covers should fit. The rotors never had starnut covers as standard though?

I had rep rotors from eBay in 20'' form
Initially they looked great.
I twice a year sealed and waxed them and never curbed them once, they were immaculate, 2 winters later the diamond cut face really started to age (diamond cut common trait I know) , they went milky really quickly, but original wheels don't prematurely age as quick.
Plus I had to fabricate audi caps to complete the look as they were a real odd size.
Plus they weighed a ton.
I binned them off, and went for genuine bbs rims, a different style, but quality wise, night and day and a lot lighter.
If it's looks your after, yeah, they will be nice at the start, however, the old adage comes into play, you get what you pay for.

Can't compare a set of reps with BBS rims Chez! Lol. BBS are going to be lighter than oem wheels!

I know mate, but in comparison, there is a great deal of difference.
I ain't mocking reps at all other than the weight and finish.
To be fair, if they never went milky I would have still had them.
Albeit different tyres.....
But that's a whole different subject lol
I couldn't justify a refurb and tyres on £400 rims if you know what I mean.

I went for them in the end today. I was a bit disappointed to hear you need to fit with spiggots, i guess thats only for alignment purposes but i'm normally an OEM man but they've polished black, and diamond cut ends will look awesome agains the Ibis!

Anyone fancy doing a photoshop?

Thanks @jojo common as muck it would seem. As a new owner i'm spotting them everywhere. Thanks for the picture though i've got a polished set and think they'll look the business.

Now time to consider next mod...milltek cat back?

Pretty chuffed with my front end. New wheels arrive this week:

So they turned up today - really impressed looked the business.

BUT

They didnt supply the spigots, so when i went to fit the centre of wheel is too big for the hub ring. Now i bought them as they were sold as 5 x 112, and the Audi size is the same, so confused! Any idea what size i may need?

Jojo, you're so good at responding on here! What makes you think that size?

Would the garage stock them or worth ordering? Pretty sure the company supplying the wheels should supply if they 'fit'?!

Oh do you know him? I've sent a text.
Not personally, but he's Birmingham based, so I've called him a few times for quotes, then turned up and Wheelmania round the corner, and tell them to beat this! Lol. I've had well over 10 sets of wheels from mania, so they always sort me out! :D

You were right! That is the size, luckily took a punt on eBay today and just bought them so should be here tomorrow. As for our man in Brum, he came back to me this evening to confirm that it is the size. And will supply. I cba to say i'd ordered some.

Noway! All the reps I've had always came with the appropriate badges for my car! It is against eBay rules to advertise the wheels with any branded badges on, unless they are actual genuine wheels! BMW replicas are not even allowed on eBay anymore, BMW have blocked it!
