Hi guys how reliable is the 2.7 Tdi? Was looking for an A4 but came across an Audi A6 2006 2.7 TDI with 106k miles is there any issues with this engine? What should I be looking for is it chain driven as apposed to a belt?
Anything else that I should be checking for or any other issues?

Cheers

Scott

I think they're pretty robust, but they weren't that popular as the 3.0TDI has so much more power out the box and the 2.7TDI was tuned for emissions more than anything else. As you've seen, you're just going to struggle to find many people who have them: maybe try the A4 (B7) / Allroad forums?

I bought a 2009 2.7 TDI in February, so too early to comment on long term reliability just yet.
I think that the pre-facelift models may suffer from the same injector issues as the 3.0 TDI, but someone else may be able to confirm this.

early ones can suffer injector issues but normally bullet proof. chain driven and if looked after no issues. put 5k on my 3.0 in just over a month and not missed a beat.

Only had my 2.7 for a couples of weeks and I'm absolutely loving it. Mine is the facelift and has currently done just over 80k.

My only gripe as mentioned in my previous thread is the road noise. :)

I've had my A6 for a year and done 24k miles. Touch wood nothing has gone wrong and the only problem I had was the swirl flap motors which triggered the fault light the day after I bought it and was repaired under warranty.

I see about 41mpg on average and once seen 46mpg on a very gentle long run. Tow a caravan and see between 26 and 30mpg.

It was remapped by Quantum and their figures say an increase from 180bhp to 220bhp. No loss in mpg but a lot nippier! Currently on 92k miles
