Well I finally picked up my new A4 on Tuesday. I had asked the dealership not to wash it so I picked the car up covered in delivery grime.

I then took it home and snow foamed it twice, Iron X'd it, hand washed with a wool mitt and 2 bucket method, clay'd with clay mitt (so much easier to use than a clay bar!), then dried and Cquartz applied then Reload.
I have still to apply DLUX to the wheels and various Gtechniq products to the Windows, seats and plastics.

Glad you have your car at long last. Really is looking good, what clay mitt did you use?

@StevoGuide7 I used a Farecla G3 Clay Mitt. I can't recommend it enough! It's soooo much easier to use than a clay bar!

@scotty76 forgive my ignorance as I've never clayed before, but would you still do this with the Cquartz??
Hey @Keef at the moment I wouldn't. It's usually done as prep before polishing and sealant /waxing in other words before a serious detail. On my B7 A4 I would wash, clay, polish and finally wax each year before winter.

That said clay on it's own won't strip a coating like CQuartz. Indeed I had to clay a small section of my bonnet to get a sticky mark off. I've noticed no ill effects or change in beading behaviour.

I guess why you'd want to clay is a different question. Usually if the paint feels rough I'd consider it. Apologies if this is teaching you to suck eggs.

I've organised for a clay mitt to be delivered for Father's day - a clay bar always seems way too much hassle so will give the mitt a go.

Wash the car first using a normal mitt and then use the clay mitt after?

Agree, the G3 Clay Mitt is so easy! Leaves the paintwork like glass, no faffing about like with the bar, just rinse it off every few panels.

Car looks cracking, good work mate!

I have still to apply DuLUX to the wheels
What colour are you going for with the wheels...? :whistle2:

Well I've finally got around to posting up pics of my car after its full detail.

I've given it Carpro Cquartz on the paintwork, Carpro DLUX on the alloys, Gtechniq on the fabric, dashboard and plastics and glass.

Superb, absolutely love the colour and it just looks stunning. Worth the wait I doubt...

Loving it so far. Need to give it another wash but it's not looking too dirty really. I need to try all my new wash products like the citrus pre-wash that everybody recommended!

I've been thinking about getting some of that, I don't have a pressure washer (yet) so it's a cheaper alternative to snow foam I suppose

Went with your clay mitt recommendation, used it on my wifes mini yesterday using the G3 bodywork spray as lubricant, fantastic result! cheers

Looking good mate, a few times over the past few weeks I've thought "I could do with a bit more boot space", the A4 may be worth another look!!!
