MyAudi.com Map Update

That's what I'd have thought but counting through on the basis they're released Jan and June then I should have 1 left, unless they do it on the build week cut off in which case it may have be 5. When I got the car it had the June 2014 maps on so I'm confused. Raised it with CS anyway to see what they say.
If could get my current spec in the new A3 with the android auto I'd be tempted to upgrade the car but it seems you can't get the 2.0 TDI 184 without quattro and s-tronic on the refresh.

Yes, it's all a bit too complicated. Why can't they just have a counter on myaudi showing you how many updates you have left?!

Yes, same boat as you regarding the 2.0TDI 184 front wheel drive manual. Maybe our cars will be worth more to the second hand car buyer? I'd imagine they will release the 184 in front wheel drive at some point again though.

As above mate that's what I did. Had the car 5 weeks & "yes" it's the SD/up grade version of the satnav. No problem with the download after I registered on the "my Audi" web site.

the reason I asked is because many others have previously stated you can only update nav maps if you have mmi plus, connect and tech pack etc - perhaps something has now changed ?

Mine was registered on the 16th March 2015, and the maps are still missing from the website. Not sure on my build date though......

Interested in what response we get from Audi on this, otherwise I'll be breaking the TomTom out again (with FREE updates for LIFE).

Mine registered Dec 2014 and the update feature has disappeared for me too. Not impressed. Have emailed Audi Customer Services.

What's the address you used ... I keep finding an audi.de address which is German

I did mine last Saturday. Checked the date on the system & it was dated 2014. Got a 32GB SD card & logged on to "my Audi" & started the map download, takes around an hr.

On a more serious note, when I used TomTom extensively a few years ago, the bods at gpsunderground.com were providing maps, plus all to tools to hack the device specific security and authorisation codes. It took a fair bit of reading, a bit of playing on my pc and a bit of patience, but eventually I garnered enough info to enable me to solder a big memory card into a 512mb TomTom one, and load it on it all the latest maps, traffic cams and other info for all of Western and Eastern Europe, Australia, and the USA.

I just checked, and they've done exactly the same with many Audi nav systems.

More a Datadribble than a Datastorm then?

Having a Gigabit Internet connection to your house is a bit like owning an "S" model Audi. It's so far in excess of what you actually need it's almost obscene. No-one can actually need that much speed, but once you've had it, anything slower feels like there's something wrong with it.

unfortunately, I think it makes a big difference - I don't believe my standard set up will be able to be updated from what others have said!

Then how about 2Mbps which is we Devonians get! Super fast broadband (i.e. more than 24Mbps) is but a dream and we'd happily settle for the "new" standard of 10Mbps which Cameron says he will enshrine in law. But even that seems a long and unlikely way away. Downloading the 17GB file to update my Audi maps last time took close to 2 days.

I've heard that Audi dropped the map update service on new builds with tech pack late last year, I think when they started introducing sat Nav as standard across the A3 range. So those that had it previously would continue, later builds would not.

Just tried to find the article / web page where I saw that, as there was a page that showed all myAudi / Audo Connect features across the whole Audi range, and map update service went from ticked to in-ticked, but I can't find it just now

But anyway I think they have quietly removed this but not 100%

I have logged and incident with Audi CS at the start of the week, heard nothing back so far....

It's also vanished from my account. My car was built March 2015 and I paid for the tech pack which definitely included the map updates. Very frustrating.

Mine is still showing but i've got this message this morning:

Untitled

Maybe an update imminent?

For you guys who can't even see this part there is a url you can manually type in to show the map update section. There was another thread regarding this, i'll try and find it later.

Mines has reverted back to they Google and audi destination options, both of which are still wrong according to my spec

This has to be the most complex and absolute pile of junk tech I have ever purchased, except the 11" TFT Active Matrix not even a pentium laptop with OS Warp installed in the early 1990's

well I've sent off 2 email to audi customer service about this both of which seem to have been ignored so far, but i did receive a call from the dealership today regarding this, (i mentioned it to service guys when discussing issues with my wife car) and I've sent him screen shots of my audi .... at least he seemed to understand what i was on about, seems most of the sales guys don't know much about the connect minefield

but yeah gotta agree with illingworth22 ... seriously over complicated system that could have been so much better

i really don't understand why the sim card option even exists, if they wanted to have all these online features why not just allow tethering of your phone to access data services, would have made things so much easier

My phone just rang.......was an 0800 number so I thought it was PPI or an accident that wasn't my fault. In actual fact, it was a very nice lady from Audi UK who was updating me on my email query. She said that they are investigating, took some more details and will call me again tomorrow.

Apparently there is a 'underground' forum where GPS maps for any device, be it aftermarket or built-in, can be downloaded...

Audi just called me and said that the map updates have disappeared for some people due to a technical issue. They are investigating and will keep me updated.

Same story on the other side of the world (raised it with them 2 weeks ago)

Sure Audi .....

Edit - no doubt they have the same rubbish response for adding Audi connect and other unusable widgets for Aussie S3 owners on MyAudi.

OK, I'm a little cynical as I spent four hours on the road today supposedly getting warranty issues resolved only to be told - you will need to come back in a week.

I paid for 3 years full tech pack updates. I have the SIM card (using the same one since car registration). My car was registered July 2014 and I have only downloaded 3 updates since then. Just received this notification (which is obviously nonsense).

I have the same message but have EUR 2016 and am expecting EUR 2016/17 anytime two weeks ago. From the car you can get your installed map version from this :-

Menu. Setup MMI. Version information. Navigation database version.

Map update service back online for myself but .....

The system check shows mine are already up to date and I can not download even existing maps.

Weird as I used to be able to download them. Script checking for last download it seems.

However, if I run the Audi Connect Java download client, I can download the maps.

So, as the maps I'm downloading via direct link using the Java app are the same as the ones I have, it seems the script used is working.

Good thinking trying the script!

This is update 3 of 5 for me but it's very late this time round.

The map update section has reappeared for me too, but it also tells me my maps are 'up to date'. I don't have Connect so I don't know how it knows my maps are current! (They're not).

Same here, the options has now come back to myaudi page bit suggests I am up to date, no connect here and never update the maps... Never got a call back from CS re the incident I logged, even after a chase and left message.

When I called them initially they said I would have to get them updated at the dealer... yeah right!

The same for me as well chaps: "The navigation system of your vehicle is up to date". I wish I'd still got the Java app now.
I picked up my car in March 14 so I reckon I still have one map update left by my calculations, but don't quote me on that though.

There's something going on though as it's not right anyway, myAudi states that I have an 'Audi A3 Sportback TDI Ambition'... come again?

When I did the previous map update last year all the details were correct. I have an S-Line TFSI for a start!
