Looking at side grading from my 8p2 SE tdi to an 8P1 v6 sport (with what appears to be s-line bodykit for 8p1 generation).

Does anyone know the differences other than the double grille?

Specifically is the dsg/s-tronic gearbox the same? It looks different but that doesn't necessarily mean a different gearbox? Could just be a different shifter.... is it as smooth? I had an 8p1 before but it was a tdi dsg and it was a bit clunky compared to my 8p2 tdi.

How hard is it to fit auto dimming rear view mirror!?

Thanks!

Oh nearly forgot. Will an 8p2 steering wheel fit the 8p1? It is larger and much more comfortable IMO.

Thanks

Man you like your A3s don't you, 8p1 sline is about 10mm lower, spoiler standard from factory, S line logo on seats and badges, black headlining, thats about it. Steering wheel will fit and work no problem, but the airbag wiring is different single vs dual stage, so whether the airbag will work as it should is another question... what is ur opinion on 2.0t vs 2.0 tdi how much faster is t?

Yeah I have had 4 now, an 8p1 and 3 8p2's!

This is the car I am looking at

Thanks for the info I will research this staged airbag!

As for 2.0t vs 2.0tdi... my 1.8t FSI was on par with my tdi, less torque, but nearly completely silent, sounded good with the mid resonator replaced with stainless!

The 2.0t had a remap and a milltek so was about 260hp, it was very fast very torquey and sounded lovely.

I am hoping the 3.2 v6 is better than all of them I like the idea of the torque of the tdi with no turbo and lovely 6 cylinder burble. My quick sidestep into the bmw brand was with their great 330ci 6 cylinder 230hp engine and I loved it but that gearbox (tiptronic not s-tronic) was terrible having being spoiled by dsg for years!

The 3.2 is definitely torquey, more so than any turbo diesel I've driven, and as such you can get reasonably good mpg if you're just bimbling around because you can do it at 1000 rpm! Thing is, you'll get your 250 or so bhp and that'll be about it, not one to purchase if you want to up that by more than a handful. I'm more than happy with mine as a comfy, but spirited, daily, and it does sound rather pleasant :sunglasses:

If I wanted to tune it I could spend £5k and get 400hp with a supercharger drive in drive out. 250hp is fine :D
