It's happened, I have the dreaded randomly going off alarm syndrome on my S3, and it's annoying me! :banghead: After a good hour of searching on here, it seems the only solution is to replace the alarm unit/siren, does anyone have the part number for a replacement? Mines a T99 model.

Thankfully, I don't think any of my neighbours noticed, as it sounded more like an alarm clock than a car alarm lol. :sos:

Mine went last week, the part number is A8L0 951 605A and costs ~£80 inc VAT.

The siren design has changed slightly you will need to drill out the original bracket for an M8 clearance. Someone has posted pics of the new design in a previous thread. And make sure you have a spare M8 Nut to fix the bracket to the siren.

Also be careful you dont snap the FM radio connector of the distribution circuit mounted above the Sub&CD changer!

I tried the clean up and repair suggestion for the siren with no success.

Mine has been quiet for the last six hours, heres hopeing it doesnt start again when the cricket starts as it did last week.

Topman Neil, I'll be ordering one tomorrow then hopefully, probably will take a hour or two to fit, so hope the weather's good over the weekend!

Thanks for the tip about the FM connector, I think I moved mine for the Andymac sub upgrade lol.

OK it's done, took me ****** 4 hours in the cold!, so hope it's worth it. I only managed to test that it works, so I set it off, and yup, it's that pathetic chirp again from the new siren. Only time will tell if it's cured the 3am problem.

Here's a few pics from my moby of the differences between the new and old siren, old one is on the left. You can see the different stud size on the new siren in the first pic where an M8 bolt is required as recommended by Neil, they are different shape but bolt in the same positions, and the connection for the plug has been bove from the side of the siren to the front.

Not sure if this is related or not but my horn siren s sounding very pathetic of late too. So much so that when i used it the other day the other driver didn't bat an eyelid.

This could be a possible MOT failure?

Rather than make a new thread, can someone tell me where the siren is please, ive recently bought my S3 and scanned it with Vag Com and discovered the siren has been coded out of range according to vag com so it no longer works and my alarm randomly goes off (hazards flash). So i have bought a new siren to replace the old one, also would someone be kind enough to scan the alarm module on their car so i can get the correct coding for my new unit.

Many Thanks

Ben

I set mine off today accidentally while washing the car. Presumed a neighbours car alarm was going off.

Never heard mine properly apart from when i locked the nipper in on the forecourt without pressing the proximity button.... i thought that was some kinda limp *** warning to say it's about to go off...

You telling me that ****** little beep is my alarm siren ??

the alarm is poor, but its got a ****** good immobiliser....:icon_thumright:
tis bulletproof, the car is going nowhere without the key unless a hiab is involved

alarm is like a casio down a well thats why I have a viper

Anyone? really need to know before the weekend.

Cheers

bringing old post back from the dead but does anyone know if the 8p siren will fit the 8l it looks exactly the same as the new one above and part number is very similar
8p part number 1k0951605c
original part number 8L0951605

£165 for a new one or £16 for new batteries. I replaced my batteries & not had a problem since.

Yeah I'm not going to buy a new 1 but I seen a thread saying you need a soldering iron to change the batteries plus it a sealed unit so rather just pick up a 2nd hand 1 for £25 my thinking with the 8p being newer it would last longer

stick with a new one, bought 2 others that were supposed to work but did not, alarm is way down in the wheel well below the central locking pump, pain in the *** to get to had to remove trim and subwoofer to get to it. just sold the s3 as it was getting a bit old.
