Installed Audi OEM CF spoiler yesterday followed all of the instructions including adhesive. Removed tape this am and the back side (trunk by rings) did not adhere correctly. It moves and I would imagine let water underneath. Front appears to be solid (top of trunk). Any thoughts on what I could/should do. This is Audi adhesive that came with the spoiler.

Was there any pre wipe before applying the adhesive/tape in order to remove any wax or other coatings from the paint ?

Here are some photos. The spoiler is flush with the car no real gaps. If I push on it from the top it has some flex and will move on the trunk back a very small bit (a 1/16th or less of on an inch)..

I did clan the are twice and made sure it was dry. Also roughed up the underside of the spoiler and cleaned per instructions.

Now wondering if the flex is normal.

Unless the adhesive was 100% right up to all edges you will get some flex. I've fitted rear roof spoiler in work using black adhesive which was put on by a gun, it wasn't right up to the edge but it stuck! you could still lift the edge of the spoiler slightly, but I'm talking 2-3mm max.

Water will only go as far as the adhesive, what type did you use tape or runny stuff?

The instructions did not show it right up to the edge so it is not at the edge. I used a black adhesive that Audi sent with the spoiler. I cannot really get my finger under the edge of the spoiler. It only really just flexes or gives a bit when you push on it. So I guess leaving it might be the best option at this time. Maybe the adhesive needs to cure a bit longer.

It's a ****** nice spoiler though to be fair.
I would want it stuck down properly to avoid losing it.

I think you are worrying too much, it will be fine. If you had put the adhesive right up to the edge it would have oozed out when you pushed the spoiler onto the body of the car. As long as the gap when pushed or not is the same on all edges it will be fine.

Any pic of it fitted from an angle to see the full spoiler?

BTW how much cost OEM carbon fiber spoiler?

Removed the spoiler and reinstalled yesterday. Removed the tape today and all appears to be fine.

Paid $875 delivered.

Looks really well!

I've got an sline saloon. Havnt made my mind up if it will suit a normal A3 or whether it's more suited to the S3 like yours with the diffuser.

Guys if not purchasing genuine OEM (been looking at the xenonz ones)
What would you suggest buying to stick it down.
They suggested bodyshop sealant.
If be after something that's obviously strong, but would like the ability to remove in the future for when I'd sell the car.
Would there be any damage left to the paintwork, I'm thinking tape may be a better option?

Yeah I'd try 0.5mm thick double sided 3M tape maybe 6 or 8mm wide around the edges rather than silicon.

Thanks for reply...
Any experience of removing it? What would process be? Any damage to paintwork can you envisage?

The tape you mean ?

Gently prise away one corner using a plastic lever style trim removal tool then spray on an adhesive remover - most tar removers also do the same job. Leave for 2-3 mins then slowly peel away from that corner. When it stops moving apply more adhesive remover and repeat.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but since folk here have experience with the OEM carbon fibre spoiler, I figured this would be a good place to ask.
I have an A3 TDI and fitted the spoiler a year ago. I'm in the US and the car's being bought back next month, so I'm wondering if anyone knows or has had experience of how to remove this and not kill the boot lid.
I fitted it literally the day before dieselgate broke too, and it's stuck down with 3M urethane seam sealer... this stuff here: http://3mcollision.com/products/sealants/3m-urethane-seam-sealer-black-310-ml-cartridge-08367.html

I have a 2016 S3 now (same colour as the A3 too) and would like to see if I can get it off one and onto the other.. I'd also rather Audi didn't get a $1100 spoiler back off me that I paid for outside the car purchase too :) I'm thinking I'm SOL, but thought I'd ask!

Ps there was no flex in mine.. I really wish there was because it would give me hope the thing would come off! The carbon fibre mirror caps I also bought came off just fine and are on the S3 :) I guess I need to update my profile pic!
