A3 FL or A4?

Yes your missing something, why on earth have a 1.4 when you could have an S3?

Actually yes they do and I have driven around one in new jersey, america practically invented them in 1907 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundabout sometimes also called 'circles'.

Did you sit up all night just to find that!! The norm in the US is for intersections not roundabouts. There is also one in Houston!! Just for your info.

I was going to correct you myself, but I figured I'd let you bash in your own....simplicity. ;)

I've had my a4 for 3 weeks now , I must say it's brilliant! Interior quality and refinement is amazing. I thought my previous a3 8v was good but this is so much better!

Handling and driving wise I find the a4 better (probably becuase of the quattro ) , but if my a4 was fwd I reckon my a3 was better.

I only have one problem with the a4 and that's the centre speaker rattling in the B&O sound system , which is quite annoying! Other than that it's a really really good car

On a side note:
My a3 8v was a 1.6tdi s line
And my a4 is a 2.0tdi quattro s line ( with a load of options )
So a bit of a difference between the two

mind sharing some pics? would love to see the 19" alloy wheels :D

Yes the LED interior light pack, multi-coloured is a £100 option, includes:
  • Ambient lighting of centre console + front/rear door trim panels
  • Door opening illumination lights
  • Front footwell illumination
  • Illuminated centre console storage
  • Illuminated vanity mirror
  • Interior door handle illumination
  • Outer door handle illumination

Even my wife's MINI has the interior LED light package. Or as MINI call in The Excitement Pack!!

God bless niche marketing. It's the only reason the question of A4 saloon vs. A3 saloon could ever exist. Do I want a saloon 175 inches long or a saloon 186 inches long?

The only answer is to work out which car you actually want.

Actually yes they do and I have driven around one in new jersey, america practically invented them in 1907 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundabout sometimes also called 'circles'.

Ooh, history of traffic junctions? I do love a bit of geekery and pub quiz trivia.

First modern roundabout is often claimed by the states, but this is a factoid that neatly ignores the existence of circular, circus, rotary, and roundabout junctions throughout Europe that pre-date both the invention of the car and even the founding of the United States itself. Take this one for instance, the most famous junction in London, opened in 1893.

The US rediscovered roundabouts in the 90's. Having had the luxury of space they didn't really need them for most of the 20th century. However, American drivers unused to giving way to other people found them confusing and hard to navigate, citing difficulties in getting into the roundabout in the first place, followed by great difficulty in getting off them;

You have to wonder how they'd get on with the Swindon magic roundabout;

You are quite correct in what you are saying that roundabouts by another name can predate those used by cars, but we were referring to the ones built specifically by those vehicles. There is also another famous one in Bath, called the circus, which was completed in 1768. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Circus,_Bath

zzzzzzz roundabouts..... The Magic Roundabout was my fav lol

Because you don't want an S3?

Re Roundabouts. The yanks have fourway stops instead - so who goes next? The advantage I suppose is that you have to stop, so if you hit someone there shouldn't be much speed involved.
They certainly have a problem with our roundabouts, but then they also have a problem driving on the "correct" side of the road. :blahblah1:

But their turn right on red is a brilliant idea.

And the Hemel Hempstead one where you can drive either way round the roundabout.

I think that's basically the same as the Swindon majic roundabout. I think they work on the basis that they are so confusing everyone goes very slowly!

Solution for confusing roundabouts = Buy a BMW, BMW drivers expect everyone to get out of the way for them :)

... and no-one expects them to use indicators so you always need to keep your wits about you!

And they don't go round corners very well either. There are a series of bends on the A1 near the Black Cat roundabout going north. My wife always overtakes BMWs on these bends (dual carriageway) because they have to slow down and her little Polo takes them quite well at a faster speed.

I just called into my local Audi dealership as I was passing for a nose at anything new, sat in the new A4 and and thought it's very nice, BUT didn't feel sporty in any way! Then sat in the A3 convertible which my mate is looking at...hmmm still out on that one. Then left the showroom to drive home, came to a bit of a straight off a roundabout and booted it....woohooo S3 again for me next time :D

I so hate Audi for not coming up with interior light color choices for the A3.

If you connect the white ILP cup holder and B&O speaker grille LEDs in reverse they turn red - that's about as good as it gets ! ;o(
