Hi ladies and gents, not new to the audi world but new to the rs section of it ;) just collected my new rs3 3 miles on the clock, any tips on running in the car and just general advice and tips on the car itself?

Pictures required. Only 3 miles on it? Lowest in ever heard was about 35 miles.
Running in or not as been covered to death load have done none some have taken it easy for 500-1000 miles. It's up to you.

3 miles! They normally arrive with about 50 on the clock?

regarding the 3 miles I was shocked myself however ever since the arrival from Germany the car was not touched apart from delivery miles, well that's what the sales guy has said and pictures will follow once weather allows

I kept mine below 4k revs for first 600 miles although others didn't bother eg once warm just drive as normal.

:sunglasses:I'm convinced mine sounds better than ever once it went over 1,000 miles .... but now the weathers (occasionally) hotter I am winding the windows down more often to hear the glorious sound these cars make .... Hit 3,500 rpm + and OMG !!!! :sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

Looking forward to the pics. My A3 arrived with 8 miles on the clock. 3 is extremely low. Enjoy the car.

3 is probably what it should be! I'm convinced the sales and delivery guys usually give them more of a run out than necessary.

I don't know how many miles mine had on it lol I was too busy striking it up & hearing the pops & bangs lol :)

The RS cars usually arrive with about 50 miles though something to do with extended low speed testing at the factory.

Drive it normally/road legally without overloading anything; use everything as you should including brakes and gears; gradually increase acceleration and braking levels throughout the first 1000-miles

There's no point overdoing it from new, similarly there's no point pussy-footing around and then overdoing it once a 4-figure mileage is displayed: just drive it as though you were going to keep it and it'll repay you lots.. :superman:

And as Sandra says, "Enjoy"

Finally got my hands on my new car today.......... here she is inside the showroom!....

............and outside in the daylight. The Glacier White is amazing in bright natural light.
It had 46 miles on the clock (just like TX said)

When I got home I removed the rear chrome badges and have replaced them with the gloss black versions from Raywell (will post some pics of the process and end result later).

First impressions of the car........ my god it's good!! Infact, I would go as far as saying it's even beyond my expectations. Now I don't know if it's just me (or some sort of placebo effect of having a new car) but I swear this car is louder and feels faster than any of the demo or press day cars I have driven. The sports exhaust in dynamic mode is so loud, I really don't see why anyone would need to upgrade it (maybe just the secondary cats from Miltek but thats it).

I am trying to limit my driving style to 4000rpm for the first 500 to 1000 miles but it is so hard to do!

I'm on 600 miles now, my dealer who knows his stuff said they don't running in. I just drive it as above, always let her warm up and always let her sit at idle for a minute before I **** her down. I've not tagged her, but definitely had a bit of fun everyone in between slightly more reserved driving.

I took it out for a drive to the Wake Up meet at Wilton House in Salisbury this morning, kept it at a nice steady pace (decided that I am going to run it in for around 500 miles or so, but I know there are different opinions on this ) and the onboard computer was showing nigh on 34mpg @75mph motorway and it dropped to just under 28mpg as we went through the Salisbury Ring Road system. Now I know that you don't buy an RS3 if you're worried about fuel economy but you have to be impressed with that.

I mentioned in a thread yesterday that the exhaust seems to be very loud in dynamic mode (more than the demos and press cars I've tried), when we arrived at Wilton House I put it in dynamic/sport and booted it up to just 4000rpm (running it in remember), the sound bouncing off the walls and surrounding area was just fantastic. Loads of people started taking pictures of the car and a couple of guys came over to ask if the exhaust was a Miltek, they couldn't believe it when I said it was the standard factory fitted Audi sport exhaust.

So after just 24hrs of ownership I am deeply impressed with this car, I did however have a small issue yesterday afternoon when it decided to cut out as I was coming out of a car park. It would'nt re-start immediately and only after turning everything off and locking/unlocking the car again would it start again. When I got home I googled the problem and only found one other similar incident which happened to the Auto Express longterm test press car (the notorious KW15 GXL). It hasn't re-ocurred but I would be interested to know if any of you others have had anything like this happen to your car.

I have also been reading about how easy it is to steal cars using the OBD port, apparently cars with the Audi Advance Key (like mine) are especially venerable. So this afternoon I removed the OBD port and relocated it a bit further inside the dashboard (no rewiring just moved it) so that you can't get at it using the usual access point. To find it now you will need to remove the dashboard end panel (comes off easily with a tweak from a bladed screwdriver) but you can only do this if the door is open (ie unlocked using the proper key). Hopefully this should make it a bit harder to steal the car using the cloned key through the OBD port method.

Interesting comment about moving the OBD port. Given what you're left with, is it possible to get another OBD port socket from somewhere and put it back in place of the real one, thus creating a dummy socket?

Yes it would be easy to put a dummy one back in it's place- it would just clip back into the standard aperture.
However, my logic for removing it and leaving a blank hole (it's an enclosed plastic aperture moulded into the lower dash panel) rather than fit a dummy, is to simply allow the thief to quickly know something is wrong when they try to plug into the expected OBD location. There would literally be nothing to connect their equipment to and then hopefully quickly decide to disappear (remember that they have broken the drivers window and are reaching into the locked car searching for the OBD port with the alarm going off at this point - checkout Youtube to see how this is done).
Fitting a dummy version in my opinion, would make the thief hang around longer because they would think that they have made a connection with the car's OBD port and try to silence the alarm.

Yeah true, good point. Okay perhaps fit a dummy version which has a few pins connected behind it so that it fries the connected device..

Hmm, interesting, sending a few hundred Amps through it would be nice, fry the scum!
