Just a note to say thank you for all the advice and support I've received on the Audi Sport B5 section. Unfortunately after 10 years, my B5 2.5 TDI Quattro Avant is hopefully going to a new owner. I'll post a link in the for sale section.

I've bought an A4 Allroad Quattro 2.0 TDI with xenon headlights, sat-nav, leather, start-stop, and panoramic sunroof. Absolutely blew the budget, but it's mint with 30k miles, and they simply don't come up often.

I'd like to think who-ever buys my Amtrak locomotive is getting a great car. I couldn't trade it in as the dealer was offering pennies. Over the years I've rebuilt the suspension, stripped the brakes more times than I can remember and even got down and dirty by cleaning the air intake manifold. I've learnt a hell of a lot.

I sincerely hope it goes to an Audi enthusiast, as this car has simply never let me down and I'll be sorry to see it go. I've only ever had an engine management warning once, and it turned out to be oil sensor. I can honestly say it's been the best car I've ever owned. The 6-speed manual transmission is as tight as the day it left the factory. It doesn't use oil (probably because it gets oil changes every 10k), and its still on the original clutch. The coolant temperature sits at 90 degrees even when I'm towing. That's German engineering for you.

Thanks again.

It's sad to move on mate - I miss my B5s but the 3.0 A6 Allroad and A5 Coupe are great.
Bought OEM winter alloys and OEM spec snow tyres for them both following the B5 success in snow!

I'm probably going to replace it with the A4 Allroad as the A6 went down so well with her.
It would be interesting to know how it compares with the 2.5.

Keep in touch and if you sell to somebody decent let me know - I still have a couple of bits left.

Sad to see my B5 go Paul, but technology moves on. It needs a timing belt done later this year. Difficult to justify the expense of doing that, and then keeping it for another couple of years. I'm asking £1,500, only because there's hardly an original part on it. I was also looking at some of the wrecks on Autotrader in this price bracket, and they're not even Quattro. It will suit an enthusiast, who understands if it's treated well - will run and run.

I spent a while looking for the Allroad, as Audi in their wisdom were as tight as a gnat's chuff with equipment specification. There's a few good examples out there, but I wanted the panoramic roof and all the toys. I was looking online regards the electric hand-brake. Looks a complete pain, as I'll need VCDS to move the rear caliper to change pads. Looks like a might have to invest in a copy, as this thing has more electrics than your average sub-station!

Thanks for the offer of parts if someone local buys it.

I'll post pictures once I pick up the new car.

@spartacus68 good luck with the sale of your car, someone getting a cracking car. Look forward to pics of your new car. As Paulf has said he has vcds and can help you out till you get your own copy. :) x
