Hi when searchin on ASN and through google all i have found on lowering on the size wheels/tyres has been on the 8P forum ....
Has anyone got a S3 8L lowered on 235/35/19 ?? and if so how low and any rubbing issues
My apologies i have asked a simular question before but didnt get a definitive answer
Cheers

Yep my S3 runs that size. I believe its lowered 40-45mm. I can fit a finger between the tyre and the arch and the only rubbing I hear is a slight amount from the front if turning while reversing up a hill. Other than that its fine.

I've ran 235/35r19s with ET35 offset in the past, and the above happens, you need a 5mm spacer up front to cure the problem. I ended up using 10mm rear and 5mm front spacers running the Porsche rims. I've also ran 15mm rear and 10mm front spacers aswell, with no clearance issues using standard rear tie bars, so approx -2deg rear camber. Since the camber was corrected to -1deg, the tyres catch on the inner lip at the rear under load, eg heavy acceleration and going over dips at high speed.

brilliant i probably wont drop her that far but was just having a idea to see if it is worth doing or not you have any pictures at all couldnt see any on your profile (it migyt be my tablet playin up)

Oh yeah, I think mine are ET35 and there are spacers on there, but I'm unsure the size as they were on it when I bought it.

thanks jojo i have 10 mm spacers all round atmo so i could just get some 15mm rear spacers and change the camber to a -2deg ? im currently on a set of rs6 reps witch according to an quick internet searcn are a ET45 .... What would this mean? (i can have a check on the rear spokes of the alloy to see if the offset is written on the back tommorrow if needed) cheers

also do spacers technically change the offset and the push the wheel outwards towards the arch ?

Yes, the spacers change the offset, the offset in General is a minus figure, so ET45 is actually -45, by adding a 10mm spacer, they become ET35, which is why they are still catching as per my example.

Based on your info, then 15mm spacers will cure your issues, and you can run whatever camber you want with ET30 offset and 235 tyres from my experience. When you head towards ET20 offset, or 25mm spacers in your case, then you will have clearance issues on the rear. Of course different tyre brands have differ amounts of tyre wall protection, so some tyres naturally give more clearance, like Toyo's for example.

brilliant so once i get some 15mm spacers for the rear i should be all good to get some coilovers in march and drop her down abit ;) looking at AP coilovers they seem to mid market on here and i have heard they dont seize as easy as the budget ones thanks for your help jojo

Im running 235/35/19's on 8J 45ET wheels with 25mm adapters front and 30mm adapters rear, lowered on D2 coilovers.

LOL, But in my Opinion I feel 19"s are too big for the S3. My wheels are going onto my dad's TT month end and I am changing back to 18"s.

Statement was not even cold yet and I have gone and purchased another set of 19"s again lol

Hey all sorry bringing back a old thread

I have just bought some 3omm apex springs and some 15mm spacers (i have sme 10 mm spacers already for the front)
do you have to change the front and rear anti roll bars ? or are standard ones fine for 30mm on apex springs and standard Tie bars?
Cheers

You will not need to change the anti roll bars on a 30mm drop. The rear camber will be out though, so it's recommended you fit some to correct it a little to reduce tyre wear. It's not essential, it really depends on how many miles you do?

Thanks Jojo i have seen some other posts about adjustable rear tie bars ill probably get some in a month or so.... thanks again gor your help on this one !

On my car, I just measured how far the clamp for the height level arm is bolted onto the lower oem track arm, and bolted it around the same position on the adjustable tie bars. Never had an issue with MOT with the headlamp aim.

I'm on 25 MM. front and 10mm rear gmbh springs to keep camber correct.
