Hi,
Can anyone shed some light onto why randomly my a4 will light up one fog light automatically, yet if I press the fog light button both come on fine?

Current settings: Headlights set to auto all the time, DRLS are the headlight LEDS.

Cheers

That sounds like it could be your cornering lights?

I thought the same, but the car was straight and the steering wheel too?

That is another thing I noticed today, ie my Feb 2011 S4 does not have the corning function switched on. Remember it does not need much of a steering angle to be set for these lights to come on at slow speeds, also I think that both come on some cars as soon as your start off in reverse, well the Ibiza does for one.

Ive had a seat before too and I remember this, but I don't really like it on this. Anyone know the VCDS code to turn it off?

Sorry - no, but I did come across it today when sniffing around the controllers - maybe try instruments, long coding helper will point it out if its there.

Edit:- I really have meant to map all the controllers that I can, I think that we all should if we are able to.

why would you turn it off??????????????? Its a kerb lighting function, not cornering function, only works up to 18mph. The cornering function is done within the headlights themselves with the aid of a side facing bulb and this happens at all speeds, its a rarer option.

It could be that the fog lights have been enabled to act as cornering lights, which would light up which ever side you start to turn and also if you indicate, the respective side's fog light will come on automatically.

Cheers,
Need to sort it with VCDS. Haven't got round to looking yet.

OK well yes they aren't strictly cornering lights since that's a functionality for the headlamps, but they do play a part in lighting up corners while turning!

Forum police nee naw nee naw

I think that if you read "across" the VAG marques, you will find that the description for this lighting function does extend to "static cornering" and other descriptions, writing/posting on a forum does not oblige all others to read and take what is read to be taken as being correct though?
