Well I planned on showing how to remove and replace powersteering rack started well took pics then got ****** off with audi stupid design on how it's fitted so scrapper that idea and just went for doing it took me 6 hours on my own and I ws covered in powersteering fluid lol but all done now no leaks just going to get it tracked this morning :)

Good work Brad

What were the symptoms/mileage?

What was the hardest part?

Think I'm slowly coming to the realisation that mine will need doing :grumpy:

i changed track rod ends and fluid was seeping out the inner joint boots plus i had a little leak some ware could not find it so lucky found another a4 in my town £25 later and a bottle of green power-steering fluid from vw and tracking all is well now just got to clean all the old fluid off the car now worse part was removing power steering pipes from the rack as the old ones were seized on to the rack and would not come off another little **** of a job was the plastic shields that enclose the rack in side wheel arch not ashamed to say they are no longer fitted !!!

if doing the job your self rack comes out drivers side remove the lower shock bolt and all 3 top shock bolts in engine bay to allow the shock arm to be moved out the way to wiggle the rack in and out any other questions just ask away while its still fresh in my head lol

Washed and rinsed the inner liners in the wheel wells while changing wheels... Very dirty..

So is the car now

New project awaits
Loving the wheels and the photos!!!

This gives me an idea how mine will look also once I've painted the lowers, are you already lowered? Put some door blades on there

Yeah there's tons of non oem ones I've seen on eBay but worried about fitment too. You can get them from TPS but godly expensive

hi folks done a bit ready for the a4 ive fitted the s4 bumper grill. painted the rear bumper, painted the sharks fin ready for the sat nav. pulled the b post trims and cleaned behind them. also pulled the schuttle trim panel and cleaned and polished the fire wall and the pollen filter and ecu covers. and started to paint the seat side panels for the electric seats.

Is that s4 front and s line rear? I also prefer s line rear compared to the s4 rear one piece

Yeah not happy! Put wipers on and they stopped for a second mid screen then the drivers side one kind of jumped and they started working again but drivers side spindle is now lose and all over the place! Had a look and it's the aluminium end the shaft sits in has snap clean off!

De badged the boot, well. Here it is. As suspected the red had bleached so had ghost symbols underneath. That won't do! So, repainted the boot, and bumper as colou was a shade out, black diffuser for more aggression, and fly ey front and back lights! Gotta say, this car looks nearly brand new now!

Quick question, did you split the s line rear from the top half? If so how easy was it to split them, it's held in by like loadsa little clips/brackets, worried that I'm gonna end up breaking it lol haha

hi mate yes i did split it. there is 2 screws in each corner then loads of clips that are part of the bottom half, which in turn goes into the holes in the top half. if you need a few pics let me know.

Well Audi want £86 for the wiper mechanism but I just got a brand new genuine one off the bay for £35 posted :yahoo:just got to fit it now when it turns up.lol

Thanks mate,I think i got a very good deal. I know it's a pita job as I had them out last year as they started to slow. I'm guessing they seized up again but they didn't seem slow this time. Give me a chance to give it a good clean under there now

Very nice Neil. Like the De-chromed look on the grills and also the fly eyes. Whilst I prefer tints..the fly eyes on your look nice!

Got a indicator bulb warning this morning so replaced both front indicator bulbs with silver bulbs and put some proper canbus friendly LED sidelight bulbs in too.

I think there might be a problem with the bulb holder though, as the indicator still isn't working properly although it is better.

Makes a huge difference to the look not having the orange bulb in doesn't it

Well my wiper mechanism turned up this morning so I spent the afternoon fitting it. This is what happened to the old one,it had seized solid on drivers side and the motor had managed to snap the end of the mechanism off! (Bottom windscreen cover removed) Also half a pine forest in there aswell.lol

Manager to get it out without breaking a thing and here's it next to the new one

The new one has a rubber cap on it which the old ones don't so I guess it's Audi's attempt to stop it happening

It took nearly 3hrs but I did give it a good clean out before refitting it and I now I'm hoping I won't have to do it again. They work like a dream and now I realise just how slow the old ones had gotten.

Changed spark plugs to BKR7E. Previous ones were ngk with audi logo on them no idea how old. Gap was at 0.34 was getting a bit rough idle. Gaped new ones to 0.28 and what a difference. No rough idle and car drives somewhat better( i think). Also two sockets in the middle were full of oil. Cleaned all up and will check back if oil shows up again. Had a cam cover tightened about three weeks ago so loose one might have caused it.

What did I do with my B6 Avant 1.9TMI today? Drive it, without it misfiring or cutting out....ooooosh

Do like that headlight wrap

more done on the a4, the replacment boot lid arived in the week to replace mine, that had loads of laquer peel. while it was off fitted the pre painted boot spoiler. also removed some of the horrible carper type stuff from the engine bay. fitted a s4 abs/ washer bottle panel. removed the air cleaner housing. and polished all of that.
