I am having the dreaded limp mode in my 2003 1.9tdi A3.Had the code 17965 come up on mates Vag com. He erased the code, and same thing happened again. Loss of power, then you pull over and stop. Turn car off, then on and its gone! Any help please.

Classic over boost limp mode from sticking vnt turbo vanes due to carbon build up .

Helpers - 2 stroke and egr delete or disable .

Cure - Mr Muscle or strip down and clean turbo .

Delete is a kit , disable is this simple..

Eml for both methods if OGZ in build sticker and requires remapping , OGE is good to go.

Everything resets with ign off , till its triggered again .

It's not a fix but after the fix it helps alot of things including engine oil staying cleaner , turbo, egr and intake manifold to stay cleaner as recirculated exhaust gasses containing soot are no longer getting stuck to the crankcase oil vapour .

Did you notice the car boosting earlier ?

Now that you mention it,it did seem to come in earlier. The limp mode seems to occur when you accelerate over 60mph

that sounds like a trick question!

although, this is a very interesting thread to me as I am shortly to sell my 8L TDI quattro...

Na , not trick , the egr is no longer bleeding off exhaust gasses to recirculate so 100% of the exhaust gasses are driving the turbo .

Hi, sorry to butt in on a thread. I have a 02 plate A3 tdi 100pd. It is running fine. I was thinking of have the car mapped, nothing fancy and was wondering about two other items guys seem to do on the diesels.

1- egr delete. What is better, delete kit or to simply de-activate as shown in the image. Either way how does the egr delete effect the remap ( delete before, during or after map)

2- decat exhaust pipe. Will this bring up an engine light and will it fail the mot if it is evident a cat is not fitted. Does it add much value to the tuning process. Do you have to buy a replacement pipe or can you break up the cat internals and knock the debris through to remove the restiction.

Again sorry. Can start a new thread if felt best.

Because it's an 02 no eml with egr mods .

Egr will not affect the remap .

Best decat pipe is one that imitates a cat such as ETS .

ETS...... I have no idea. Is that a make. Ebay?

Hi, does the no EML situation apply to 03 cars aswell?
Thanks:sm4:

My car still not fixed after replacing n75 and egr solenoid. Car still goes into Limp mode!
