quick question should the armrest sit flush as mine doesn't (see images). It won't go down any further. The hinge also makes a noise when lifting the armrest.

Thanks :)

Yep it should, if it knocks about though and makes a loud ratchet noise when adjusting like mine - no it shouldn't -.-

Two months in and it looks like a trip to Audi then to get it sorted ☹️

You might have tried this, but try lifting it up, then push the hinge down while its open, then shut it. I believe there are multiple heights and this is how you change them (on mine at least).

Sorry it's a bit hard to describe!

I've tried lifting it into the different positions and then all the way to the top and back down but it still leaves a gap. Just not sure if that's the way it's meant to be, wanted to see what people's opinions were before I took it into Audi.

Agree that it doesn't look right. Should sit flush :(

Thanks in the most positive way ha. Wouldn't mind only opened it to grab some shades.. it's not as if it's old it's a 65 plate so Audi should be fine about fixing this....

No no, it is supposed to leave a gap. Mine does also - apparently they changed it to leave a gap so newer cars will have one

Looks exactly the same too.. Anyone else ha ha! I know it's nothing major but being 3 months old I don't want it to break out of warranty and then have to pay for a new one.
I've just had another look and I think it's supposed to be raised in order for you to put your fingers in underneath to lift it up....if it were flush this would be impossible to do.

I did think this but thought there would be enough room at the front on it. As long as it's not broken :)

Can't say I have ever noticed this on mine. Need to go and check now :D

Apologies for the misleading comment :p

Mine sits pretty much flush - has rubber stops on each corner allowing a very small gap. Much less than images above.

As the rest has adjustable stops, I can make mine have a larger gap as in the image above but I always have it all the way down.

The posts on this thread are reminiscent of the changing rooms at school during early teens. Oooh yours is different to mine. Oooh mine hangs lower than yours. At the end of the day they are all much the same.

You went to a strange school ?

These type of threads are some of the best, especially for a product that is sold with so many variations within a model across multiple markets.

Personally, if a thread strikes me as pointless I stop reading after a few posts.

Mine sits all the down so you can't see in the compartment.
Mine also slides too, try sliding it, open it fully then close.

Looks flush from above but low level slight gap but not as bad as some.

God, that looks hideous.
What a botch job Audi made on the UK ones.
Have not seen any like that here (driven about 6 now incl an RS3)
Edit - just noticed your seat buckles are on longer stems.

It's all very well you saying it's hideous, lets have a look at your ROW car, which you claim has rubber stops under the armrest and a red internal boot release! And you also claim your car has a yellow fuel flap release!

(In the US/Canada FMVSS since 2002 mandated a glow-in-the-dark emergency trunk release, in EUR we only have a red fuel flap release)

It's hard to comprehend that Audi would have make such market specific variants, especially for ROW.

Pics of your car please.

Wonder if the visually longer stem is due to seat height adjustment ?

Pretty serious cast sub structure and hinge with injection moulded substrates should be pretty repeatable, maybe any slight variance people are seeing is due to trim level, ie, foam padding and covering ? .....

I think a lot of people are forgetting that the armrest slides forward.

If we have a look at the photo from the thread linked in post #13 above, once the armrest slides forward, there isn't a lot of clearance left.

Yep good point the front surface ahead of the chubby hole is curved so even if this touched it would gap everywhere rearward due to the sides of the chubby hole being lower.

Quite. There is no way it would sit "flush" or have no gap ;)
