I can guarantee that this has been asked a million times but I can't find a straight answer anywhere

whats the difference between the above 3??

do any of them harm the engine?

and which one for just slightly more 'pshhh' than my standard 2007 S3 one??

is forge the best company to use?

any help would be appreciated

thanks

Isn't BOV the same as a DV, a recirc valve recirculates the pressure back into the inlet rather than dumping it into the air like a DV does, which is bad?
I think that's right anyway. Loads of useful info on this site, how I learnt not to buy a DV, but to buy the recirc valve for my A4. Could be different for other engines, I dunno *shrugs*

as far as most say, us VAG folk do not dump to atmosphere (this is for jap cars) we put the air back through the system. The computer has already recorded the air going in, so if we dump it outside the engine thinks there is air inside which isnt! which can caus brief rich fuel mixing when changing gear, which is bad.

HOWEVER, im sure theres a guy on here who used a forge dumpvalve (to atmosphere) and he got it dyno'd and stuff and it hasnt lost any power.

Its your choice, but tbh with a proper induction kit, the WHOOOOSH is well loud enough anyway!!! and mine is just the 2.0T A3 not even the S3 with bigger turbo.

I fitted one of the GFB DV+ diverters to my S3 yesterday. However I was more interested in maintaining boost than making the noise.

Yeh no need to change the dv really. Unless ya stage 1 the car then you may want to get a oem revision d Diverter Valve (recirc) or forge kit or prolly better the GFB DV+ adaption that fits into oem DV. Noo pssst noises really. Wooshes from air filters tho as mentioned ;)

According to Nick at R-Tech, the G revision diverter is the OEM valve of choice. It has a more robust diaphragm than the C revision. The D revision has the piston which is known to leak. The G revision is also much cheaper than the D revision. I have had it confirmed from Brett the engineer at GFB that the DV+ works equally well with the solenoid from all revisions if the valve.

Has this S3 got a BOV fitted? sounds sweet.

I have been thinking of one of these are they any good

i've had rev d and forge dv and now dv+. dv+ doesn't make so much noise as the forge one did (which i actually like after having forge for few years), but it's better on gear change, and the car is little more responsive.

Hello guys got a quick question myself I'm stuck between the GFB DV+ or the Forge DV ???

Get the latest revision OEM one and save your money,I have a DV+ but I only learnt after buying it.

As mentioned a couple of years ago in this thread, I have the DV+. When I told the chap who was going to add the APR stage 1+ to my car he expressed a little concern as he said that are some none genuine copies out there. I said that mine had come from AMD and so he said mine would be OK. The car was dynoed before and after the map with no faults found. If I did not have this I would fit the OEM revision G and not the latest D. The Forge unit does not make use of the OEM solenoid.
What faults has anyone had with the DV+?

Rev g splits, rev d is known to leak boost. I've moved to dv+ as i got it as a part of a deal. Personally i like it. I had few dv's in the past and for me dv+ is the best.

HKS SSQV and Forge dump valves are a dump to air type (bov) and requires a lot of alterations to pipe work and engine electronics to the maf, where as the GFB DV+ requires no alterations at all, it also retains the dump air going through the exhaust system as required from the tfsi system, it is also ultra reliable, there are now known failures since its upgraded spring a few years ago, as it doesn't rely on a rubber diaphragm, it uses a brass cylinder and is less prone to let air by and loose boost pressure, its recommended for for stage 2+ and beyond, it also acts dare I say it? as an anti lag during gear changes, but in a legal way, you wont get constant rally car boost, but just enough between gear changes to make a small benefit. Even the newest rev vag dv lets air past and you loose all that precious boost build up.

Sorry forgot to say that your EGR (exhaust gas regulation) valve which relies on the air that goes through it will be effected, your EGR valve is like an ALS (anti lag system) but quieter, in fact it is replacing the ALS because it is quieter, the reason ALS is banned, and it is because of the load bangs it creates.
So go ahead and replace for a atmospheric BOV and you will be down on power, due to the air not getting to your EGR.
