Sorry to hear that. How did they get it? Keys taken?

that's sad.
with all that police sirens noise in N7 Holloyway Highbury and Islington area I would never think that could happen

I will share it onto our Facebook

Sorry to hear this mate, do you have GAP cover?

It's a worry I have..Too much of it going especially the S3's....
Yeah sometimes I think is it too much of a worry owning a fast car, maybe just drop to a 1.4 saloon so I don't have to worry about the car being stolen as much!!!

I picked up a friend on Friday who lives on a bit of a rough estate! just driving through all the scum bags were watching me go past, I thought then "Glad I'm not parking up"...in fact it reminds me of something well dodgy I saw....I'll look to see if it's still on the cam.....

I saw three young lads looking well suspicious hanging around near the shops, a few mins later I came back and one was hanging through the window of a 15 plate Merc while the others were watching the road!!!

Thanks for sharing Sandra and yes the Audi dealership advised taking the gap insurance due to this risk.

Drugs spring to mind with the above.

Sorry to hear your cars gone. Personally I wouldn't want it back. Hope you have GAP as suggested above.

Ahhh that's good then, still bad it's gone! but at least you will not be out of pocket and will probably get a face lift car :)

Yeah that's what I thought. And the same, if mine goes I hope it goes for good.

That's poor. The world we live in :(

I hope they catch the criminals, and you get a nice shiny new motor through your GAP policy.

I am sure I read somewhere on this forum that it could be handy to leave a dummy key lying around.

Hate these post, feel for you mate. Hope you can get your home secure & insurance pays out quick. Utter barstewards!!!!

I know everyone is different but I leave mine closer to the door than my bed. If they want them, they'll have them and I'm not putting my families life at risk. If I lived on my own I might think differently

Don't let this put you off, why should we let these lowlife stop us having nice things we work hard for.

Is there away to set up cameras in the car that automatically post to the Internet. Surely in this age of 4G and tiny technology...something that takes a short burst every time you turn the engine on? You can just delete them if it's just you lol.
Or maybe something that is hidden but linked up and controlled by 3G/4G...so as soon as you realise it's gone...you click 'record'

I wouldn't want the car back really but I'd like to see the scumbags caught every once in a while. Maybe even be able to video where it's ends up and bring down the whole fooking racket!

How uncanny! You said exactly the same as a mate of mine when I was discussing it with him ;)

I did start thinking about going down in engine size, BUT when you're at the lights and some fool tries to blast you off and you floor it....:) the smile is worth every penny ;)

There is.

I've seen a few of these types of devices on eBay (I have a T104 tracker, but not this cam type)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8GB-Porta...423476?hash=item19ea14f174:g:TukAAOxykMpTJcLW

This is the smallest one I've seen, although the one downside is that it's powered by 5v DC.

To the OP, sorry to hear about your car. I know a lot of people say they wouldn't want it back, but ld be gutted, especially if you've spent time and money modding it:fearful:

All very well but better spending your money on stopping it being stolen in the first place and protect yourself and your family...I have CCTV, dashcam, burglar alarm and good doors on the house to protect me and my family.....you could add disklok or similar but if someone is that determined you don't want to mess with them, for when it happens, if it does, I have GAP insurance.....once it's gone it's gone , metal and plastic can be replaced

Yep.

I would recommend anti snap cylinders and proper reinforced door handles as well. Most handles can be ripped off in seconds with mole grips and the exposed cylinders then get snapped in two and the scrotes walk right in. All in under a minute.

A lot of burglaries are through forced windows as well so sash jammers are a good extra layer of security, especially on upvc, which tends to flex quite a bit when force is applied.

Fab and Fix make the better quality ones.

Perhaps we should create an ASN home security thread to keep us all better protected:busted cop:

It often occurs to me why we don't pay as much attention to, and take as much care over the security of our homes as we do our cars.

Cars come with alarms, hi-tech security systems, and (prior to the advent of "keyless" entry which is a huge about turn in security, being about as effective an anti theft measure as sticking your car to your driveway with blu-tack) old fashioned hard to defeat mechanically keyed deadlocks that ensure that its hard to get in, hard to drive away, and hard to look inconspicuous whilst doing it.

In contrast, you can break into the average home with little more than a pair of pliers and a wet five pound note.

Euro cylinders that can be defeated with a pair of mole grips, glazing so fragile it's a wonder it doesn't actually fall out with a stiff breeze, doors made of papier mache and locks in general that are hopelessly outdated, and unbelievably easy to pick, knock, bump, rake or simply break open with a well aimed size ten.

Add to that the fact that people are just unbelievably dumb when it comes to basic security. Windows and doors routinely left open, keys are left in locks on the inside of back doors & patio doors, garages are left unlocked, gates left ajar, and alarms left unset. And, most infuriatingly, car keys left by the front door. I have a brilliant bit of cctv of some oik using a fishing rod through my neighbours letterbox to hook the keys to his new smart fourtwo.

Fit proper locks, with anti pick, anti shear, and anti drill designs. The old fashioned Yale fitted to every front door since the 1950's is utter crap. The euro cylinder that's largely replaced it is just as bad. 'London bars' and 'Birmingham bars' can be used to reinforce doors and frames against brute force attacks. Bomb blast film can be used to reinforce existing glass, including patio doors, to the point where you need a frenzied and repeated attack taking several minutes to get through it. It costs very little. I had bomb blast and privacy film added to my patio doors for only £250. New Windows can be specified with multi layer high security glass, frames and hinges that are similarly impossible to break without attracting significant attention. And for Christ sake, set your ****** alarm. Even overnight when you're asleep. All alarms are equipped with zone selection, RTFM, and just set the zones at entry points when you go to bed. You can roam the house all night long if you want, but if some **** decides to come calling without asking, the noise will get rid of him.

Essentially, make your house as impregnable as your car, and they'll go elsewhere.

If they make a noise it will help :)
Shouldn't be a problem. Dachshunds are blessed with a total ignorance of their own size, and consider it their dog given right to make noise.
