Hi folks,

I am taking my Akoya Silver (hopefully that's right!) 2007 A3 Sportback sport in for a full wheel refurb shortly and need some opinions and help. I know colour is personal preference. I was just going to stick with the standard Audi silver to keep them factory looking but the place suggested anthracite as a possible change.

Anyone got any thoughts or personal experience to share?

Thanks in advance!

I'm in the same position as you, got an Akoya Silver car with Silver wheels that need a refurb! I still can't decide on colour, I find that a nice bright silver complements Akoya Silver well. Anthracite looks ok, but I feel that darker colours can sometimes make the wheel look a bit lost, especially if the wheels have thinner spokes. I think shadow chrome might be a good shout as it is like anthracite, but more shiny.

Not sure I've heard of that colour but I thought same as you, lighter seems better but not seen much on the darker spectrum to compare

Here is Donny_DJs car. It's not Akoya Silver (close enough though!), but it gives you an idea of colour.

Nice. A bit dark looking in the shade though. Thinking I might keep OEM colour now as silver lighter seems better on Akoya Silver rather than darker

I have an Akoya 3-door. Much prefer the silver Ronals. But my Titanium MTMs are the best!

Thanks guys. I have to say I am not a fan of black wheels, but it is helpful to see them just to confirm it in my mind! :sm4:

Does anyone happen to have any more examples of lighter wheels?

Thanks @DJ_26 - Mine is Avus Silver.... It's very similar to Akoya Silver but instead of a hint of purple it's blue :).
Regarding the wheels... i got mine done in 'Black Chrome' (which is kinda in between silver and anthracite, and give a 'mirror' effect) by The Wheel Specialist and thoroughly recommend it. The pics don't really do it justice :)

That looks really smart. Stock wheel colour bright silver is def the way to go. That other Akoya S-Line looks really good too, but maybe a shade too dark, but it does look good in the brighter photo.

The black wheels look horrendous IMO - just wipes £2k off the perceived value of the car.

I'd say stick with OEM silver coloured alloys.

Thanks for the pics mate. I have to say not my cup of tea but it would be boring if we all had the same!

I would always say stock silver, sometimes a slightly darker shade can work but it's easy to slip in to a rough modified look that doesn't work so well on these cars (just IMO).

These are some pics I took while at The Wheel Specialist of the different shades. It's under artificial light but gives you a nice idea of shade.

Black Chrome is bottom row, 3rd from the left:

They do look good I have to say, but I think unless I'm 100% sure on a colour, I will stick with OEM silver

titanium IMO is the best bet. the color code is L8AU and requires two coats then 2 coats of clear. the color for reference is on the BE rotors
