Guys,
I bought a s4 from a non audi dealer. Anyway the car didint have sat nav, which was one of the options i wanted.

Anyway i phoned audi (Wimbledon) to see if I could get it put in.
They said no ????
Apparently they cant put it in once the car has been sold

That cant be right can it?

If it is how would i go about getting the nav+ system put into my car.

I did consider another model of sat nav but i want everything flush in the centre console.

Any suggestions and is the nav+ system even any good?

I bought the wife a 3.0 Sport Cab fully loaded including Sat Nav +

At the price it is simply useless. The maps are about as good as an old version of autoroute and are nothing as good as the OS quality stuff a friends S Type R has.

I cannot set the road I live in as "home" as the street does not exist on the 2003 mapping (the street has existed since 1999)

You cannot enter addresses via postcode, which makes the process of setting up your route quite time consuminmg (remember Sat Nav is to get you there quicker!)

You cannot mix shortest and fastest segments within the same route instance.

Altogether its a waste of money.

Using it to try to map out a route for a large cross country blat (180 miles around Surrey/Sussex/Kent for 80+ Caterhams ) proved useless and we resorted to paper maps.

All in all, don't lose any sleep.

Also worth noting is that the TV will not work as soon as the terrestial analogue transmitters are turned off in a couple of years.

fatarnie, are they really turning off the analogue transmitters?

Front loding CDs, mmmmmm! I have to agree, I havent changed my CD stack for ages! Always seem to forgot.

Thank god I have Bose!!

excursion, thanx for pointing me in the right direction! I found it on german ebay.
Now the problem is I dont know what the hell the text says.

The following link is to the nav unit:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2436830113&category=21646

is this the correct unit and does it come with all the necessary cables?
If anyone here can read german or give me an idea as to how to go about buying this item, if its the right one (latest version) I would be extremely grateful.
Excursion any further information you could provide me with would be most helpful, did you buy of this guy too?

PS if anyone here with experience in installing this item is willing to install it for me I would be happy to reimberse you for your troubles. If not may have to ask AMD, not sure who else

Check out

www.tvwiz.net/navigation/index.html

This will tell you ALL you need to know, retro fitting Audi Navigation to an S/A4 is possible and the above link will explain it all for you.

I want to do this on my S3, but its a lot more like hard work, its also harder to get an S/A3 Audi nav system, while S/A4 items are 10 a penny on german e-bay.

The link will explain all

Can you install the sat nav / tv unit into a late '98 S$ with the older sat nav unit?

this place is a wealth of knowledge!

Click on the link I previously posted!!

As I mention this will answer ALL your questions & explain how to do and where to get everything! Including a TV tuner.
