Yeah but doesn't that mean a price increase? Even though you secure your FL, you will be expected to pay more if on PCP let's say or whatever.

You might be able to secure a deal now atria price.

Hi Folks - first post for me! I have just placed an order for a A3 Sportback 1.4 TFSI Sport Stronic in Misano Red - only option I have chosen is cruise control (cant believe that a car so expensive does not come with that as standard - my Hyundai i10 costing less than half that has it and also has LED drl's which the A3 does not have either!) - I have been told it is subject to an approx. 4 month delivery wait. No mention was made of PFL or FL, so I am going to contact them to clarify! Also, at what point in the order process does the order become "locked" - just in case I wish to add anything further? I did receive about a 17% saving off list price though so must not grumble too much!

Congrats on your order mate, 17% very nice indeed!! ;)

I ordered about a week later this time last year and car was delivered 24/7, one of the first MY16's. Reckon you have a better than average chance of a facelift model. Order locks in after a few weeks but check with your dealer.

Haven't read through the entire thread so apologies if what I say has already been said. I was at my local dealership here in Germany (test driving an RS3) last Thursday (I'm now sure I'm not getting one). Whilst there I got to chatting to the salesman about the A3 facelift, in a nut shell he told me to look at the visual changes the new A4 has for ideas of what the Facelifted A3 range will look like, i.e similar lights and grill, and new wheels. Also said there will be a few things thrown in that are currently optional extras but the price will reflect this so you won't get anything for free, I asked about the virtual cockpit and he said it will likely be an optional extra and not standard. He then got the chat back to the RS3 and said that will not get any of the facelift changes until April time(ish) next year!

The only thing I hope to see in the facelift is a HP boost for the 2.0T here in the US.

220HP is measly numbers for us fast driving Americans.

Right now this 1LT 2.0L turbo Camaro looks better than the 2.0T A3 and it's only $25K.

Going by your sometimes indecipherable reasons for Threads lol l think 220bhp is more than enough for you

2.0 camaro , that's just not right !

Fast driving Americans? Yes, I suppose there's been a couple of them who weren't flustered by the arrival of a corner... Can't think of any names right now mind, but I'm sure there's been a handful who can can turn right AND left. :whistle2:

To compare a Chevrolet to an Audi is a bit tricky. There's an awful lot of previous bitter experience and prejudice to overcome...

We don't get the Camaro in the Uk, where the brand of Chevrolet (or indeed, any American made car) is forever associated with horrific build quality, terrible ride, the chassis sophistication of a horsecart and the inexplicable use of mis-spelled wording rather than symbology on controls and instruments. This was further reinforced by the recent use of the Chevrolet brand to sell some very poor and frankly horrific Korean made budget cars.

The US Markets singular focus on horsepower above all else is probably at least partly responsible for the quality gap, ironic since US cars of old managed to squeeze some comical numbers out of enormous engines and put them into "sporting" cars. My favourite of all time being the famous "Smokey & The Bandit" Trans Am's that could squeeze from 6.6 litres of American muscle a heroic and frankly astounding 180bhp. Of course things improved with the later turbo engine. A diminutive 5 litre V8, that could squeeze anywhere from 130 to 200hp.

The fact that more modern American cars have made stellar leaps in design and quality is not entirely lost on us though. The Mustang is selling like hot cakes here now that it's finally got the steering wheel on the right side and has a rear axle from something more modern than a Model T. Yes, after decades of attempted launches of woefully substandard models, the all American car is finally becoming a contender, albeit a cut price one. There's still a long way to go before the quality meets the standards set by European marques though. :friends:

PS, if you think I'm being harsh, I'm not. I'm merely exacting well deserved revenge for all those Chrysler PT cruiser cabrio's you kept sending us. Dear god America, what were you thinking?!

Who offered a 17% discount? The best I was offered was about 10% from local dealer and 12.5% from online broker.

Quick update on my order, spoke to the dealer today and the car has arrived in the UK now so won't be a product improvement model or whatever we are calling it.

Checked using the order number and the date is showing as last September and we only ordered at the start of March so must have been a reserved build slot.

Should be getting it in the next couple of weeks hopefully happy days!

Looks like I spoke too soon! Just had a call from the dealer and turns out they were looking at the wrong order when quoting the status etc. and they don't have a build week for my order yet so not sure what will happen now, guess I will just have to keep an eye on the tracker.

The mustang was my first choice when I went out looking for a new car, but i never got as far as examining the interior in any depth. I was put off by price, both new and used. It's by no means expensive for what you get but because it's new, you can't even get a fiver off the thing. Then in two or three years, is it actually going to be worth something? It's the first widely available American car available in the uk in years. Is it going to follow its predecessors and drop in value like a house on an eroding shoreline? Will that slightly OTT styling date really quickly? Will I look like a **** when I'm driving it? Lots of unknowns meant the head overruled the hearts fervent desire for a v8 soundtrack. I know buying new is a quick fire way to hose cash up the wall at the best of times, but there's a limit. Time will tell if the mustang makes as much sense as buying a luxury car from Citroen...

As for the Camaro? Pass. I've not seen it in the flesh, but that hackneyed styling alone will prevent it finding buyers here. On a US highway it looks just right, On the Hammersmith Flyover you'll just look like a tool. Nice to see they've dropped the live rear axle on it though...

I'll wait until I see the final cut before I decide on this one. The Cenotaph is very obviously our national memorial to all those who gave their lives in battle, first of all for the Great War, then extended to WWII and later to other conflicts in which British Servicemen & women have lost their lives. On all but a few occasions, the Americans, no doubt including members of Blocks own family, have fought and died alongside the British. I find it hard to believe that during the meticulous and detailed planning that needed to take place to close off a London street in the centre of government, and plan the route and detail of Ken Blocks automotive dance routine, that not one of the hundreds of people involved would think that this particular spot, so ingrained in the national psyche, didn't need to be afforded special consideration.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see a final cut showing the pair in car saluting the Centotaph as they pirouette around it, or leaving a perfect outline of a rememberence day poppy in rubber around its perimeter. A poorly chosen tribute to the dead, but a tribute none-the-less.

Or they might just be total pillocks acting entirely inappropriately. Let's see the show and find out.

Chris Evans has stated that the stunt will never be aired.

Wow. I need to read the news more... I saw the very typical Daily Mail level of tabloid revulsion, and never got past the sensationalist headlines...

They were only filming around the corner from me as well. I saw them arsing about in a mustang at Canary Wharf, and my only reaction was one of being mildly ****** off because they made me late for a haircut.

If they really did balls this up on such a scale that they won't air it, then Ken Block is the least of our worries. The entire BBC needs a hefty kick in the pods. It recommend disbanding it entirely in light of other recent cockups, but I cannot stand watching ****** adverts.

Last time I was over in the US had a Camaro SS for a week.
Good cars for fast straight sprints, perhaps not as capable as others going round a corner (like the S3).
Good seats and seating position too.
Felt planted to the ground, which it should as its a big heavy lump, which is its biggest downfall.
Will never feel nimble.
Perfect car for American roads, if I lived there I'd have one.

That is partly why it is not getting aired I think, the mustang had 2 million pounds worth of advertising on it , (if aired on prime time tv) which the bbc obviously can't show ! A huge **** up !

That's just the figures ended up, but despite a deposit being paid, order form placed etc it now appears there has been confusion over the discount and I am not sure at present whether the order is going to be honoured, tweaked or cancelled

Did you drive the latest Camaro? The current version has been said to out-handle a BMW (but not Audi) and Ford announced that it is accelerating its Mustang refresh to counter. http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/road-tests/news/a28658/harpers-bizarre-2016-camaro-ss-review/

That's what I thought..Will let everyone know if I get a reply...:friends:
Had a phone call from Audi UK today....
All they said was that they are getting a lot of calls and e mails asking about the face lift A3. Their official reply is that it is imminent...They also stated that they have not been given the official start date for the face lift from Germany.. They also joked that they are the last to know on any information regarding launch dates and face lifts...
Read into that what you will??
So the 'saga' continues...lol
