Okay guys, here's a few photos of my car with my spacers fitted. I went for H&R Trak+ Black 15mm rear, and 10mm front from DC Performance with M14x1.5 45mm long bolts from Demon Tweeks.

The first few photos show some close up comparisons of the wheels and how they sit now compared with standard. Then, I've added a few photos of the whole car to show the general stance I'm now running.

As well as the spacers, I'm also running a set of ST Suspension (by KW) 40mm lowering springs to give a better ride height.

I'll try and get a few more photos when the weather improves to show the stance better.

In terms of driving, the car feels more planted through all types of cornering. The rear wheels seem to have a bit more negative camber now after widening the track.

Much better hate that Audi hide the wheels in the arches. Looks really nice now. Your spacers are 5mm less than mine with the same width wheels on the front and back but still do the trick!
Looks just right lowered slightly too.
I used to have a VW Caddy works van lowered on vmaxx coil overs and the ride was horrible. You could feel yourself driving over a shadow!
If I end up keeping the car for long term I'll think heavily about fitting air ride to get the exact height and comfort.

Good job!

Hi guys,
I'll get my car (audi a3 8v 1.4 TFSI white) in 4 weeks.

I would like to change on arrival.

I would like to lowering and spacers.
The result that obtained TRS S3 is the one I want. (for lowering).

1st question: The ride height between S3 and a 1.4 TFSI S-line is it the same?

Then I compared the rims of the S3 S3 TRS with that will have:
S3 size: 19x8J ET49 (235/35)
Rotor size: 7,5J R18 (225/40)

If I calculate the difference this is what I get:

S3: 8J = 20.32cm (8''x2.54cm)
A3: = 7.5J 19.05cm (7.5''x2.54cm)
Difference: 1.27cm (12.7mm) in each wheel.

S3: 235mm
A3: 225mm
Difference: 10mm

Total: 22.7mm in each wheel.
I ve probably the do something stupid in my calculates ....

2nd question: how can I make the spacers on the front and back without it touches the bodywork?
Knowing that I would like it comes out as possible.

I would be out of order the right spacers. And especially that it does not touch the bodywork when there is the loaded car.

Thank you in advance guys. I'll post pictures of the car when I should have had my questions answered.

Ps I: Sorry for my english, i speak better spanish or french.
Ps II : Very great website with many information.

I got 12MM front and 15MM rear. The rear actually could use a little more (maybe 20MM) but I'm happy with it from stock, especially after lowering the car.

thoughts on this type of spacer? Got them for a good price off eBay and I've already got extended bolts to fit.

Could there be play with spacer making it unsafe?

Great stuff, many thanks for that and I can't wait to get the mod done....... :thumbs up:
Did you go for 10 and 15mm front and rear respectively? I have 15mm front and 20mm rear on OEM springs 18 spoke star alloys, I am wondering if it's worth machining the 20mm down to 10/12mm and switching ends...

Thanks
@Liam Joyce car looks great
made my mind up for me, 20 rears 15 front
20mm H&R springs
job done

Thanks a lot! I'm still umming and aghing about whether I want the Eibach set... I really would recommend 12.5 mm front, 17.5mm rear, In my opinion you see a little too much rubber outside of the arches. With the 15 and 20 the wheel is flush with the top of the arch, however the rest of the wheel protrudes outside of the arch... You can see in the images what I mean. Just discussing the matter of machining 2.5mm off of each of them. The spacers came from an engineering company in the uk, £70 including bolts, quality was unquestionably good!

Hi guys, any issues with keeping the car clean with spacers.
I don't have them, but I have wheels with a lower offset (8j-18, ET45), which equate to 12mm spacers.
In rainy days I have all the sides damped by water and road dirt and the car becomes very dirty in just few miles.
Not sure it happens with the original set up.

interesting point......
i would imagine its worse with spacers ? but if your a clean freak shouldn't matter too much

Thanks

so who can fit the springs? I'm in South east London

I had 20mm spacers on the rear of my s3 took them off because the tyre was hitting the arches anyone else had this problem?

Lenny don't you already have saloon 19s on ? These already stick out 8.5mm more than the standard 18s so that like having almost 30mm of spacers on.

Didn't think about that think I will have to get some 10mm

Yes mate but no spacers - for me the stance is about perfect didn't want any dirt or stone chips thrown up along the sides of the car also heard that they can load the bearings up and can make steering heavier so not for me. Big improvement over standard 18s though that look a bit lost so can fully understand people fitting them.

Hi all. Total newbie here.

I've read through this thread but would appreciate a little extra help.

I'm completely new to Audi. So I'm relearning everything and feel/am a total novice again after decades of honda knowledge built up.

I bought a S3 saloon 8v yesterday. I'd like to get some spacers and lowering springs.

I'm not looking for anything extreme.

Please could someone link directly to the spacers and spring I need to get? I know this seems very lazy of me but I'm lacking confidence that I'll get the correct items.

I bought the car on a complete whim yesterday... I was about to buy an A45 AMG but the dealer messed me around a little so had a "**** it" moment and bought myself this...

Thank in advance

David

has anyone had any issues with main dealers getting into a hissy fit, because you've had spacers fitted?...

Nothing from me, it's been in for a service as well, they said the alignment was out due to my springs and spacers compared to to factory. The service woman even commented how nice it looked :)

Lovely car mate. I have a set of 20mm spacers with bolts there that I have just recently taken off my saloon that are available

Just looking up on some old posts for some info, am I right in saying standard 18" are 225/40/18 7.5 ET51?
This includes the S3 18" and also the S-line 18"?
The S3 and S-line 18" are the same right?

Yes I'm 99.9% sure of this certainly on H/B & S/B, Saloon S-line may be different.

Thank you for clearing that up rob!
Ha I just replied to the other thread, what you said here somewhat answers the question I just posed. I guess I should of looked at this one first. My bad

So since both (S3 & S-line HB/SB) are 225/40/18 7.5 ET51.
By fitting 20mm spacers on the back and 15mm spacers on the front.
What would the new offset be? How is the offset calculated exactly?
Is it ET 51 denotes the offset in mm?
So with 20mm spacers on, the new offset would be 31 for the rear? With 15mm for front new offset would be 36?

I'm a little lost and need some clarification haha

Offset is the distance from the hub mounting surface to the centre of the wheel rim - the smaller the offset the more they wheel will 'poke' out towards the wheel arch. So yeah pretty much subtract the spacer thickness from the offset (ET) to get your effective offset.

How much will the revo 19" 8.5 ET 45 stick out compared to my 18" 7.5 std S3 rims?

What difference will tyre width mean to all this? Would I want 225 or 235's?
Mines -20mm Eibach Springs... :wtf::scared2:

Thank you please :friends:

Hello mate, that setup would stick out 18.7mm closer towards the arches so imagine your current wheel with almost 20mm of spacer (that is quite a popular choice and I'm thinking almost flush). A 235 tyre will be the better choice as it'll still be slightly wider than the rim - a 225 will begin to appear stretched.

Edit - Batch is running those wheels think with 235s.
