Ordered a set of rubber mats with my new car. Fitted them just now. Are you supposed to cut off the tab or some thing? What does the scissor sign mean?

I have them too. Used scissors to cut off the hanger tab.

Yes! Lol.

I wouldn't use scissors though. I found it difficult to get a perfectly near line that didn't annoy my OCD. I went with a Stanley knife to get the cut right against the main mat.

Thanks. I've left them as they are for the time being. The front ones are fine with it left. However the back ones fold up against the rear seat so will cut them off.

Thanks all for the tips and advice.

When you see a scissor sign it means load up some scissor sisters "obv!!!" *He says in Yobbish accent* :rockwoot:

As I opened the pack and saw that I thought that's one cheap production line! and I don't even get an S3 logo! They take a beating though.

Just a quick question do your rear ones clip on because mine dont i have the clips there but no holes in my rubber mat

Yeah mine clip on. 2 clips per mat. Front and back.

The cloth ones that came with the car don't have a3 written on them, but the rubber ones do.

Yes, my rear mats have the same securing holes as the original fabric mats. If I recall, Audi also supply rear mats that don't have the securing holes, so I suggest you may have the incorrect rear mats for your model.

I didn't order my rubber mats with the actual car. Ordered them once my order was locked so the dealer just supplied them.

My rear ones dont have the holes where as my front ones do and they have a3 logo my cloth ones clip in i bought mine from ebay so am thinking my rear ones are wrong

There are two different versions of rubber mats. One without the holes on the rears and one with. I was supplied with the wrong ones and had to swap them.

I use my old 8P ones. Don't quite fit but do the job and saved me 90 quid!
No tabs or trim strips on those though!

I got mine chucked in for free.

Glad someone clarified what the scissors sign meant.....

I tried cutting my wifes hair with the front passengers side mat but it didnt work out.....so that wasnt it.

There's your mistake. You must use both mats together to trap the hair between!

My drivers side one already has a wear hole in it after only two years, 10600 miles and I only use them in the winter. Not very good quality considering how much they cost me and way worse than the ones I had in my focus...

....you should come to my house Sandra, my 15 year old son says it all the time!! lol

Here is my thread from another posting:

Been doing some research regarding genuine Audi rubber mats for the front and rear of my A3 saloon, and have been informed by my dealer that there are two part numbers for the rear mats:

8V0 061 512 041 - Rubber mats, rear (Sportback & Saloon) - Fastening type: With no securing points

8V5 061 512 041 - Rubber mats, rear (Sportback & Saloon) - Fastening type: 2-point fastening

The front rubber mats for the Sportback and Saloon have securing points, and the part number is 8V2 061 501 041

Hope this helps!

Cheers, Allan

It helps at first i thought the mats might be like that because they from an a3 but I dont really mind the mats in the back bieng wrong am going to stick with them for now
