Am I correct in thinking that 28810-1 is the correct part No for the latest range of H+R lowering springs (25mm lower)
As I would like to order some now for my S3? Where is best to buy preferably from the UK.

Thanks in advance

Cheers I was just looking at GNJ's website as you posted. Will order through them cheers

I've hered the HR springs don't give a good ride, meant to be bouncy. I've just ordered these from emmanuele design which have good reviews when I've spoke to people.

Yeah will do! Just got to wait as they coming from us and I'm in uk!
It says
- Approximately 0.5" Front & Rear On Non-Mag Cars
- Approximately 0.75" Front & Rear On Mag-Ride Cars

so 20mm for mag-ride cars... Are the springs different for mag and non-mag or does my car with mag sit at a different height to one without?

My understanding is that mag ride cars sit higher so the same spring lowers mag ride cars by a greater amount.

Thanks @Rob2k68 I have always thought my car sits a bit high (in comparison to other S3s on 18's) and weirdly thought it was because of the19's, but now you say this it's probably because most others don't spec mag-ride. That's a whole 1/4" difference there!!

Exactly mate - imagine how mine looked with mag ride and the original 18s it came with ??!! (pics somewhere on here no doubt)

Kept looking at S-Lines thinking that's how this should sit.

19s have reduced the tyre to arch gap by a further 5mm as the 235/35s are a larger diameter than the 225/40s on the 18s.

Just out of interest what's your measurement from wheel rim to wheel arch eyebrow at the centre of the wheel. I'll measure mine tomorrow.

Wow ! You're on the ball thanks matey.

My drives on a slight slope so best to do it tomorrow at work. Will be interesting how's yours and Forbzeeee's compare as saloon and sportbrake both with mag ride and 19s.

So my measurements, S3 Sportback, Mag ride, OEM 19s & Eibach Sportlines fitted. Measured like this :-

7UgWEjBR

But readings taken 90 degrees looking square at the edge of the wheel rim, I have 80mm front :-

KIXovRwV

and 75mm at the rear :-

cLUJl89e

So @pburv exactly an inch lower than your measurements.

As the saloon can take 20s I suspect @Forbzeeee to be 10mm or so less than yours.

Hi Rob.
The measurements I took were 90 deg square to the edge facing the wheel...
Quite a difference I did not expect this..Is it due to different wings fitted to the saloon? or is it a difference in suspension set up?...Cheers Paul.. :friends:

when changing springs, will the auto adaptive xenon headlights need calibrating ?

Yeah quite surprising !! Good to know we measures the same way. I know that when the Sportback comes with 19s from the factory it is fitted with plastic wheel arch extenders in order to meet the wheel & tyre coverage legislation (can't find a pic at the mo) but the saloon does not have theses. I believe that the saloon fenders are both higher and wider than the hatch and S/B.

Not sure about the adaptives but a few on here with xenons have had them reset ie. adjusted up , after lowering. I had mine checked at its service a couple of weeks back and were told that they were ok.

Yes, my main beam is ok, but my dip beam barely lights up the road. To adjust it properly requires VCDS or a trip to the dealer. There are adjuster screws at the back of the light clusters.

yeah, being adaptive, i would've thought they will read the road and adapt themselves to the situation. just as normal.

i don't have VCDS - although I'm going to invest in it at some point.i suppose i could always use the screws for the interim if needs be.

Then again, i could leave it till its first service and get them to calibrate them whilst its in for service...

I could be wrong but if you do adjust the beam manually then you must calibrate them by vcds as they could damage the adjusting motor??Like I said I could be wrong...:friends:

How you finding the eibachs with mag ride, and have you noticed any handling improvements?

I'm seriously considering a spring upgrade.

Stunning look car by the way!!

Nice one - thanks !

Ride is 20-25% harsher but the bounciness has all but gone and it feels more focussed probably due to the lower C of G as much as anything plus it no longer looks like it's sitting on stilts like when it had the 18s on so overall a compromise that I'm happy with.

Are you saloon or hatch ?

Looks alone it's worth the upgrade in my opinion, but I like the sound sound of the points you've made above.

Waiting on delivery of a saloon mate.

H&R 28826-2
No mag ride
16mm spacers on rear
20mm spacers in front

Never liked the height and the way the wheels were tucked away so at the start I wanted 19" wheels but couldn't find wheels I liked better than the standard ones for less than £2000
After it was lowered and the spacers went on I was happy.

Eibach Sportlines.
I second @Rob2k68 comments that the car now has a harsher ride but still more than comfortable enough. The new stance has almost eradicated the bounce, helped turn-in and reduced understeer hugely and of course looks superb!
