Hi all

My dipped beam appear to be very very dipped at the mo (almost dangerously low as I can't see beyond 30m in the dark unless using full beam).

The self test when turning the ignition on is fine and the full beam works as normal so I'm thinking the gizmo that decides the angle of the headlights isn't working properly. Am I right in thinking this is just a lever type device attached to the front suspension which moves during weight transfer on the car and is it easy to locate. Also is there a way of diagnosing the headlight angle in VCDS while driving to see if it is receiving any data from the levelling sensor/lever.

Hope this makes some kind of sense

Cheers
Dave

The self levelling sensor is at the rear of the car, so when you have passengers it adjusts accordingly. they do tend to fail.

Lots of failures reported on here so check the adjuster arm first

Thanks for the replies guys, I'll try and get the car up tomorrow and have a look!

I had a look under the car yesterday and the adjuster arm was in tact and looked all in order. I'll get a voltmetre on it this week and have a play to check it is working properly. If not I'll cry

You could disconnect the arm and move it by hand, to see if the lights go up and down.

did you recently lower your whip?

Hi mate, no not been lowered, did replace rear springs a couple months ago though as 1 had snapped

Yeah that's what I was gonna try and do. I've manually adjusted them for the time being just because they were dangerously low
