Hi, i thought my 2006 sline quattro was a 170 as on go compair it says it as, altho my engine code is a bkd which my bro a mechanic says they only made them in a 140 i havnt got the v5 back yet as i only bought it yesterday.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me please.

Reg is yx06ytj

Best check insurance then incase they have it as a 170

Upside i dont have to remove the dpf

Your chassis number is coming back as a 103kw (140HP) 2.0 TDI S Line 6 speed quattro.

Not the chocolate turbo thing again, I thought we all agreed it was down to old lady drivers and sticky veins

Ye its a 2.0 tdi s line quattro just was unsure as to the pd.

I had a mk4 golf pd 150 before and the audi feels faster.

What difference between 140 170 as im new to the 2.0 tdi engine. Does the 140 still have good remap gains like the old pd 130/150 do

170 is always dpf, 140 is 95% of the time not.

170 has a slightly bigger turbo

I also believe it has slightly bigger injectors??

Other than that I'm sure there both pretty similar

And yes the 140 bkd has some awsome remaps, you'd easily get it past 170 on a map depending how soft you want to be on your turbo.

block, conrods, cam, intake, turbo, injectors, cooling and exhaust bore are all different between the two.

Yup, it's not just the case of sticking a 170 turbo on the 140!

Not to mention transmission, clutch, flywheel, brakes etc.

Oh! Just wish the 170's in my price range weren't ragged to death or had been round the mileage clock twice!

Ah well i wanted a 170 but the cars in mint con so im happy, will be removing the egr and taking it to darkside for a map (they are the closest good company close to me)in the near future.

The build sticker in the boot confirms the engine code. You've either been HAD by the seller or you made a wrong assumption. Besides '06 BKD motors rock, they should have the updated Head that doesn't go porous and oil pump that doesn't fall apart. No DPF means less problems with emmisions and bad MPG.

The seller didnt know what is was, was just a car for his wife to use. I only thought it was a 170 because insurance compair site said that it was a 170 when i put the reg in.

Easiest way to tell visually is actually the exhaust; the 170 has twin chrome straight pipes, and the 140 has twin turned-down pipes due to no DPF.

Yea there down turned, but not for long.

So sounds like defo a 140

Thanks all
