Hi guys,

Looking to get a 3 litre TDi Quattro Avant and was wondering if there is anything I should look out for?
I've heard the Quattros can have gearbox issues?
Any help/advice would be great before I go view it.

Cheers

If it's an auto make sure it's had the proper fluid change every 40k, documented proof, injectors can give trouble around 140k, other than that a brill motor.

Its a 2006 manual and done 120,000 miles. Up for £4000.
Do you know if they come with cruise control as standard?

Never heard of any problems with manual box's, cruise is not standard & 4k ain't bad on price, still be haggling though.:whistle2:

Oh and listen for any clonks & bangs from front suspension, can be expensive.
Listen for timing chain rattle on start up

Ok cool, thanks. Yes it is... seller is in Norwich.

Timing chain rattle when stone cold, injectors, manifold motors, glowplugs

Tiptronic box doesn't have a fluid interval, that is only for multi and s-tronic boxes.

Common 8E issues as mentioned are suspension mostly, check the heater works and air comes out of the vents you've selected as the motor sticking is a common fault.

If it's the one I'm thinking of it isn't the best spec'd car by far.

No I'm going to view it tomorrow. I will report back!

Would this need any major work doing to it at 120,000 miles? It was last serviced 11,000 miles ago.
I know people can tend to move their car on if it's coming up for a major service, that's needing a lot of parts and money spent on it.

It's still there! He must've taken it down then put up again.
